Just checked the site out and this is the current placeholder (as at 19:11 - 08/10/2012)
Not sure how long it's been like that though, as I only checked it a few days ago.

And so it begins...

Is it another one to fail before even started?

It changed sometime this afternoon, I checked about 2pm and it was the opening on Monday the 8th message, so changed sometime after that.

At least the holding page is pleasant.

It's up now by the look of things.

Interesting definition of sort by "Lowest Price" they have.

Pagination at the bottom of lists is weird, the arrow is not next page, it's skip 10 pages, it's also present even if there is no page number that high but produces a blank page.  Good UI testing there chaps.

Not much on it though, and a bit sluggish to load. I would have thought there would be more on it considering how much free advertising it was getting in the media, but it may get a lot more over the next few days.

Jeepers, ALL the listing images are being routed through PHP, response headers from a random one "dbimage_file_dGVtcC8zMjc2LzExOTEvMC5qcGc=_type_fill_width_147_height_110"...

Cache-Control:max-age=3600
Connection:Keep-Alive
Content-Length:6616
Content-Type:image/jpeg
Date:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 10:54:36 GMT
Expires:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 11:54:37 GMT
Keep-Alive:timeout=15, max=99
Last-Modified:Thu, 04 Oct 2012 22:11:12 GMT
Pragma:cache
Server:Apache/2.2.16 (Debian)
X-Powered-By:PHP/5.3.3-7+squeeze13

That's not really a great idea fellows, scale and store the images elsewhere, no need to involve PHP for subsequent requests once it's done.

When I click through to a listing from one of the browse pages, and then click back, it gives me a different listing page, containing only the item I just viewed!

Eg: Browse > General Listings > [click through to one of the listings] > [use your back button/menu] - no more listings!

(Using Chrome)

Blimey. They really don't seem to have thought this through very well.

The "Directory" is great! It's an unordered list of badly formatted names with badly formatted cell phone numbers, which isn't searchable, and has no indication of where these people live so just too bad if there are two or more "Joe Bloggs" in the country, you'll have to take a lucky dip I guess.

That page has always been there. I thought it was a strange thing to have. But I think this is a very small company that has setup this website on a limited budget, so I think they have done a reasonable job on the website based on this, and competition can only be a good thing

I get logged out every so often so I have to log in every few minutes
I can see broken images on a few of the things for sale
You can ask questions after something has sold
Some features are still This will be available tomorrow popups
Click on Help and then Terms and Conditions half way down..
If you click on "Any Price" it doesn't disappear and you have to delete it.. onfocus="value=''" or alike needed
Who is it? "Treacy Advertising Ltd" or "Treacy Advertising and Web Design"
Quite sluggish at times..

Do you want more??

Oh dear. Not going well for them either.

Security seems to be the weakest link in all those startups.

A break/fix break/fix break/fix approach to security is unlikely to make any real progress in securing the application.

A simple injection of code into an auction that was not filtered out?
SIGH!

If thats all it took I would say thats the tip of an iceberg.
Hmmmm, some 403's for logical directories that should probably return 404's.
Wonder what would happen for those logical directories if I was logged in?

Well, it's what, about 10 days now since they launched this thing and.. BIG YAWN.

You only have to look in their message board to see that even if they had managed to get the coding right in the first place, their management skills just aren't there. I havn't seen a single reply to a thread from LST administrators, not even to bug reports saying "thanks for the report we're working on it" or similar.

To my eye, this seems like a complete and utter failure of the first degree so far, an oft-seen-before "build it and they will come (then we will be rich)" mentality.  It's as if they have put the site up, and now think they just have to sit back and watch the money roll in with no further input.

You'd think an advertising company would have a few more clues.
