Hey guys, so I launched a new site today - would love to hear some feedback :). The site features products and services from various businesses. Each time someone Shares one of them on Facebook it goes down in price. The more people share it, the lower it becomes - first to buy wins it. Site users get cheap products (no limits to how low the price gets), whlie businesses get exposure via social media and ads on the site.

Site's called Power Gift: www.powergift.co.nz

What do we think?

For those who don't like copy/paste.

The static bar with logo/FB log in irritates me. I think the orange header text could be a better font. Otherwise I don't mind the design.

Concept is pretty cool but I absolutely despise Facebook app/share requests even for (especially for?) cheap deals so I'll not be participating.

If you can gain enough users sharing to get prices down to near the "deal site" levels, it could become quite successful. Theres going to be quite a bit of chicken and egg sort of situation going on to begin with though.

Limiting it to Facebook only, reduces your potential market greatly.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Is it just cos it's not scrollable like other content is, or something else (color/height)?

Fair enough. Are you the sort of person who's ever interested in buying things for cheaper than it's full price? If so, how would you rather see the site work to actually make you wanna use it?

Totally agree. The deals themselves are free to go as low as you'd want them to, if noone buys them beforehand (minimum price limit is $0.01). Like you said though its all about getting users to share them to begin with. I think the real challenge here is how can you make the process so effective that when someone 'Shares' a deal it gives out enough information and incentive for whoever sees the the message on the newsfeed to go and share it too.. Then the chicken/egg issue would effectively be solved I assume?

Going further there's definitely room to create functionality for other social networks (Twitter, G+ etc). I wanted to test out how well it does on FB as a start though.
