Hi All,

Wife and I have been working on a project for the past few months and sunk a few dollars into what we believe will be a helpful tool when hunting for a real estate agent to sell your house:

theagents.co.nz

If you are wishing to sell your house - you sign up and the agents will notify estate agents in your area of your expression of interest. Those agents (Who have already registered with the site) will reply via the website with a sales pitch - and then you get to select who you like the most. Once you select that agent - then your contact details are passed to the agent to carry on and do business.

If that agent then goes on to successfully sell your house - the agents will charge the estate agent a finders fee.

We're doing a bit of a soft launch (Social media, flick out some press releases) as we have next to no marketing budget. We'll focus on agents initially as we need them on the site for it to be useful! So if you have any agent friends, please ask them to sign up to the site :) It's free for agents to be on the site, they only get charged if they sell a property brought to them by the website.

Also open to your thoughts about the page :)

Cheers guys,
Julian

I like this idea.

I assume it provides for feedback from sellers/buyers?

This is an awesome idea!

The website is also pretty solid. Let's hope it takes off. I'll keep my eyes on it when I look to buy a house in the near future.

Thanks guys. Hopefully it'll help in this day and age of having 50+ estate agents in one area.

I have thought long and hard about a feedback system. We will implement something - but have to be careful as at the end of the day the estate agents are our customers, so have to keep them happy.
At the moment we may think of having private feedback (IE: Only the agents themselves can see feedback on them) and then an overall 'score' for an agent made up of feedback and a few other criteria. It's early days yet so we'll just gather data in the background and then decide what to do with it later.

Cheers :)

Interesting idea. Good luck.

I'm not sure about a feedback system either... that's a hard one!

Also, I haven't had a full look around but is there any ability for house owners to go to and fro with the agents before selecting one? Or is it just here's 10 agents and pick the one you like?

Ahh so this is what you're up to these days.... I like the idea, but I'm in the other boat, I want to know which mortgage brokers are good. With them you can have a feedback rating system :-)

- race to build the site begins

Not at this stage. However there is a "directory" listing of sorts if you follow the footer links to your geographical region. Also when agents submit their pitches to you, their contact details will be available so nothing stopping the vendor from emailing/phoning the agent directly to ask questions.
However, it is on the list of features in the future - an anonymous Q&A kind of system.

Insane: Funnily enough I have thought about a similar thing with brokers - but one step at a time aye :) There would be (sorry, nasty boardroom speak) good "synergy" between the two sites.
