Hi there team,

My name is Ryan Steven, co-founder of Wifi Lights Ltd. I'm starting this post with a very specific goal. I would like to find someone that will help expand our business to Australia.

Here is the long and the short of it; My business sells Wifi Controlled LED lights that can be controlled over the internet and have inbuilt disco modes, night modes, full dimming control as well as many other cool features (such as voice control using our opensource API). We have experienced great growth in New Zealand in only 7 months of business so far.

I have a sound recipe for business which means that everything from advertising, through site visit, thorugh sale, through postage, and finally accounting and inventory is totally automatic. It has taken a long time to get it to this stage, but now that we are here we are ready to open up shop in Canada, Germany, and Australia. The two former having already got underway, and Australia sitting rip for the picking.

The person that I choose to start sales in australia would have their own business, own website, and would be the wholeseller (not a reseller). Will the recipe will be given to you when coming on board you will maintain total control over your business and creative movments therein.

You would be required to:
* Mirror the original Website (including getting hosted on a local australian server, sorting out SSL and payment gateway requirement, and plugins that provide a large amount of automation)
* Follow the set social networking, pay per click and video marketing guidelines until the business is standing up on her own.
* Organising a automatic logistics set up
* Setting up and Business Registration, Business account with merchant number and accounting

For anybody interested in taking on board this challange please don't hesitaite to email me personally on sales@wifilights.co.nz or provide some questions on this post to register interest.

You'd probably struggle to find an Australian willing to do this on a website predominantly visited by New Zealanders.

Also if I was going to do it, I wouldn't want to mirror your site. Sorry, right now I'd be struggling to take it seriously.

That's a fair call, but with the increasing number of kiwis that make their way across the ditch (especially those with techy quals) one would hazard a guess that those that followed geekzone while they were in NZ, still do. It may be a long shot, but it's a shot ;-)

As it stands I've been getting huge interest from advertising within NZ for our UK and Germany expansions.

Why wouldn't you mirror the site out of curiosity? And what would you do instead, besides come across more seriously tongue-out

I think he is referencing the amateurish nature of your website.  It could do with bit of work.  If you are as successful as you say you are consider dropping a few thousand dollars into a better design..

Thanks for your input. It is on the books, but there is no need as whatever I'm doing at the moment is working. Conversions are good. And I don't do much else than take payment. It's a scale-able business but designed to stay small.

Please back up your statements with some observations, I'd like to hear some feedback especially if you feel that there are features of the site that could be improved.

You could ask the same about everything The Warehouse.

The idea is that we are providing people a common place for all Wifi LED products. From Strips, to bulbs to Down Lights. We offer 3 year warranties and even do 30 trials for $1. We have videos for installment and offer over the phone support for customers that have any troubles (although we find very few people need to call us due to the online support). We are also active supporters the movement towards environmentally friendly home and business solutions.

The easy answer is they can. But they don't.

Wifi Lights is more than just cool lights that do stuff, but part of a larger body of businesses that will provide a greener package of lighting, heating, and storage in the home, while using alternate energy sources.

But that is another story.

Meanwhile this has gone off the subject somewhat, and as nice as your feedback has been, and your free 'advice' appreciated, I'm looking for enraptures, not business advisers.

Being in Aussie, I would say that unless you can buy this stuff in a shop, the type of tech people that buy these are pretty good at looking on the net.

Where would I start? Unless I was buying Philips Hue, I'd just go straight to ebay, where I can get strips, bayonet lights, screw-in, remote etc. all with free postage for very little $$., even the same as yours for cheaper already in Oz.

Good luck though!

Seriously guys a website is a F***n website. There's much more to a business than that. Sure it could do with some improvement but just saying in a post "your website is crap" is really negative and not gonna help him.

I looked at the website. I was expecting a lot worse based on the comments. Yeah it needs a little time to tidy it up but it's not all that bad. Functionally the big 30 day trial banner could use some information behind it, same for the 30 day trial in the faq. Nice to see you are going forward and making progress from your first intro. All the best making that Australian connection.

I agree my comment wasn't helpful and I should've expanded on it.

However, I do disagree with your "a website is a website. There's more to a business than that" comment. An online company's website is its store front. It's what the customer sees as soon as they arrive. If its messy and amateurish then unfortunately it doesn't make a good first impression. I'm not saying they're automatically going to turn around and leave but it can and does happen. Likewise, if you're trying to convince future investors to sign-up then a more professional look is certainly going to help.

End of the day, like others have said here if business is as good as he says he really should consider getting a professional to do it.

The website is OK, but there are broken links (the Manual/Installation instructions don't work).

Also, where is your App on the App Store?
