Hi Guys,

We've got our standing desk Kickstarter up and are trying to spread the word.  3 founders 1 in Auckland 2 in Dunedin.  Thanks for having a look and anything to spread the word is beyond appreciated!

Interesting, i can see a use for it Although i personally wouldnt be interested.

Reminds me alot of the desks at a family members workplace, which moves up and down so you can sit or stand at it.

try typing for more than 10 mins keeping hand in the air. or do any actual coding/designing.

we have standing desks in the office, nice but after 30mins you wanna be able to lean on it or at least put hands on and keep typing and moving mouse.

added: IMO constraction is not strong enough for even me (smallish guy) to slightly lean/put my hands on it to type.

I've been using it for months, no issues personally.  I rest my hand at the mouse area and just in front of the keyboard or to the side.  That being said I don't consider the unit something you would stand at 12hrs a day and pound keys.  I have a large display based desktop, desk and chair for that.. I have the unit to the side of my desk and when I feel I've been sitting too long I'll stand for a while, check mails and such on my laptop.  It's been great for my kid as well as they are now standing when having "screen time" instead of sitting.

Interesting. I'm using a similar solution (essentially a laptop stand on a desk) but this is obviously nicer. Not sure if I'd be willing to spend that much money on that though. Is it primarily for a laptop solution or is it strong enough to sit a 27" monitor on. I guess it would be unstable? Will show this to colleagues at work anyway.

It's a laptop solution for now.  Our product pipeline does have designs for large displays.  Thanks for passing it on! :)

Good to see some kiwi ideas on kickstarter. Best of luck to you. Sadly, I have to say I don't see a use for it myself.

Are you able to give the max rated weight for the top stand?

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone, really appreciate it.

I'll pop it on a digital scale Monday and do some stress testing and get back to you (Unless Dominic can do this for me tomorrow at his workshop).  It has a thin metal strut that can be added to the back and with this in it's quite solid.

I always like seeing new designs being a designer myself.  One problem I see with it being tall, is that the taller you are the further away the screen is, and doesn't appear you  ca adjust that pitch.. Also has a big footprint, and if you pull it too close to you and one of the feet slips off the table, being a tripod design with 3 points of contact, it could topple. It will have a high centre of gravity when being used. Rubber feet would help, and would stop it scratching the table too.

Nice work. It will be the perfect solution for many.

You could look at incorporating a USB hub/extra to make it more of a dock. Ie; kB/mouse/printer.

Thanks Matt, I can't fault your comments at all.  But as with most things in design it can be a give and take.  For example a long stem wine glass is far from an ideal solution to hold a glass of $250 wine on a small dining table at a restaurant, but people like the aesthetic and generally don't have much of an issue.  Having used the desk for a while on several surfaces I have never felt it would even come close to toppling or sliding around.  It's actually quite hard to tip and it's nowhere near hanging over a surface where it could be knocked by a passer by (a good image on the KS page is of Brendan using it).  The photos can be misleading to how far away the screen seems but I find it a perfect distance.  It would be nice to have in shops in the near future for people to try it out.  If anyone in Dunedin wants to see it in the flesh please let me know and I can demo it to you.
