Hi Guys

We're currently looking for a developer to join our startup fulltime. So far there's 2 of us working full time and a bunch of us working part time.

Here's the details about us and the job:

About
Wearit is an online social platform helping guys shop for clothes by getting girls to recommend them.

We're a small startup company based in Auckland CBD with a mission to change the way we shop online. We work with retailers to provide a unique channel for them to sell and market their brand online.

Our platform is currently used by thousands of people here in New Zealand but we're moving quickly and plan to get overseas in to bigger markets over the next few months.

Role
As the Platform Developer you'll be responsible with helping lead the architecture and development of the Wearit platform.

You'll work closely with our CEO, UX manager and our designers to architect and implement new features and iterations as our platform evolves. You'll also be responsible with implementing and maintaining our retailer integrations as we expand our offering globally.

Initially you'll be leading the development of our API as we transition from being web based to focusing on a mobile first approach. As our API development progresses you'll be working with our mobile developers to help deliver our mobile apps for iOS and Android.

We're a very unique and fun company that faces many interesting technical challenges as we grow. From the technical point of view we like to explain it as we're basically like building Facebook and Asos at the same time.

Candidate
You'll be passionate about technology and web development with a curious streak.

  • At least 2 – 3 years experience with web development.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar web development frameworks.
  • Auckland based or willing to relocate.
  • Knowledge of RESTful API's.
This is a full time role and a great opportunity to get in early and have ownership of what you're doing. You'll be given a salary + stock options. Get in touch Please send us your CV and any examples of your work. This can include:

  • Links to projects you've built or your portfolio.
  • Github profile.
  • Stackoverflow profile.
  • Any other relevant blogs or achievements

Just a comment - you really want someone with 2-3 years experience architecting your platform? That could result in significant rework later. Architects usually have 10-20 years IT experience.

Thanks for your reply.

Wording is a bit vague there but the developer will be working closely with myself. I have 9 years experience so I'll definitely be leading the way in the initial stages, but not writing the code :)

Although I would expect someone with that level of experience to be able to architect their work to a certain point.

Cheers
Liam
