Woo! Nice work. One question, I see the free tier on your website has the text: E-Commerce Website (Demo)

Does this mean you have a functional e-commerce website which is simply limited to a few products or that the e-commerce website does not work and is only for showcasing products?

Oh, you are right. E-commerce website (demo) isn't the right word. I have changed it to "Product Showcase Website" now.

This means that if a customer of you wish to complete the order and checkout by making a Paypal or Polipay (NZ Bank transfer) payment, I didn't make free plan eligible for this function.

Sorry about the misleading word indeed..

Hi @Ivor - thanks for posting, I am very interested in this. I was about to email you these queries but others might be interested too so figured I'd post here.

  • Does/how does the inventory management / product creation feature handle variants. e.g. if I had a shirt available in three colours and four sizes, would it be able to generate the 12 different variants, or do I have to enter each manually?
  • Do you have a B2B module (or even the ability to integrate with multiple sites)? e.g. I sell to retail customers via Trade Me, in store and retailwebsite.co.nz, but I sell to wholesale customers via wholesalewebsite.co.nz?
  • Do you have an invoicing / quoting module (again for wholesale customers)?
  • Any chance of Xero integration being in the pipeline?

Oh, Hi, MDF

Thanks for your interest and questions.

1) Yes, my system can handle variants well. I will post a video here after I record one today. Back in year 2007-2011, I was a lingerie seller (bras, undies ...), I managed heaps of variants per product. Please check back in this post maybe late tonight or tomorrow morning after I post the Youtube link.

2) Yes, this is possible but it needs some manual work and the cost is $200+GST but for the extra website store. also there is a bit of limitation, which is once you are set up with multiple sites, you may not change their website template by yourself (the default setup allows you to change website template anytime you want but with the extra site, you can't do this). If you need both sites selling from different physical warehouse, then you will need to use the $30+GST/month paid plan plus an extra store outlet for $20+GST/month. If both sites are selling products from the same physical warehouse, then you only need a $30+GST/month plan. The ongoing cost is probably not much different except you need to pay a bit upfront.

3) Unfortunately, the quoting module is still on the way. I plan to release it on version 2.70 or maybe 2.65 with Beta release. This is in the next 3 months or so.

4) Not at this stage but I see some of my other customers they export the sales records and import into Xero. If you are able to import CSV file into your accounting system, you can let me know the file format you need, I will probably get you one for free if that's other people may be in need of it.

Once again, thank you!

That all sounds great. Sorry, one further query. Do you have product kitting? So I sell product A and product B separately, but also as a kit (from a customer's perspective, this looks like product C). When I sell product C, I also want the stock of products A + B to decrease. Is that something you can handle?

My system has something similar to approach if you are only handling PRODUCT A + PRODUCT B.

If you go to a selected product, there is a BUNDLE tab.

You can bundle the selected product plus an add-on product and offer a discount.

For example, you can offer a ladies top ($100 for example) plus a ladies bottom ($50 for example) for a bundle discount $20. Then if your customer purchase 1x ladies top + 1x ladies bottom then they will be invoiced $130.

However, if you are having a PRODUCT A + PRODUCT B + PRODUCT C, then in this case my system may not handle it at this stage. For 3 products and more, product kit is something that I will consider to add in the future.

Thank you.

Looks like Opencart + a Trademe extension?

Yes and no.

The NO aspect -

First of all, I was an Opencart fan. It was nice, easy to manage and free. In my system's version 2 and earlier, it had an Opencart sync module to work till Opencart 2.0. Actually I started my PHP developer life from OSCommerce, which is even earlier than Opencart.

I used to use Opencart from its version 1.4x before when I operated my 2 Trade Me stores back in 2007-2011 but finally decided to give up when I grew bigger. The difference of my system and Opencart will appear when retailers have things sold from a physical shop + website store + Trade Me at the same time without the need to isolate stock inventory, especially when they have **multiple warehouses**. In my opinion, at the bigger retailing setup, Opencart had to rely on other stock management system to prevent overselling (and scripting to integrate so had to spend $$$). Also, orders received from Opencart may also need to manually allocate which warehouse to ship the goods from so it increases workload too. Opencart also didn't implement a stock inventory change log (how did retailers find out how your stock inventory becomes low?), so you just had to believe your staff's honesty.

However, there are indeed other products in the market now which are more advanced to manage Opencart than it was but they all cost quite a bit. Even useful extensions were not cheap either. So finally this reason became the purpose of this system's development as I couldn't find anything suitable that I could afford at that time.

The YES aspect -

In the single store setup, I'd say you were right but retailers at least have a "point of sale + website (like a opencart lol) + Trade Me extension".

Hope my answer has clarified your questions.

Thank you for your interest and welcome to a test drive.

Thanks for the helpful replies @Ivor. Quoting is critical for us. Xero ledger reconciliation is also very important (with multiple sales channels, it's important to know where the money is coming from). If the next version might have these, do you mind posting back again then?

Will do. I will look into Xero integration soon, don't think it's gonna be hard at all.

I will update this post again once it is done. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Ivor

Sounds worth checking out :)

A couple of questions

  1. You mention paypal and poli options via teh ecommerce website - how about a simple bank transfer option? ie select Direct Bank transfer and have account details etc emailed out (a bit like Trademe) - we do get a number of customers who prefer this method of payment.
  2. How flexible is the ecommerce website? is it possible to add pages with additional content that may not be strictly a product listing? Or menu links to other web content?

Thanks

Hello guys,

Just a quick note that I would have to reply all of you later today.

To those interested, I will also get a video up about:

Trade Me demo

Product Variants demo

My tenant said the hot water cylinder isn't working and I've been trying to fix it for him since last night ;-(

I promise that I will keep you updated very soon once I get that sorted.

Hi Mdf and those who were interested,

Sorry about the delays.

I have uploaded the Youtube video about how my system deal with PRODUCT VARIANTS and TRADE ME AFTER SALES.

If you do sell on Trade Me, I am sure that you will be amazed after checking out this video, especially if you sell products with variants on Trade Me.

COMMENTS ARE WELCOMED, EITHER GOOD OR BAD I WILL 200% APPRECIATE YOUR OPINION.
