I am calling it beta testing but it's more like a soft launch: someone I know is working on an auction site with no success fees - although they charge to list items (I have my own idea about this).

NzTechAds.

The site specialises in tech categories only - kind of a niche marketplace.

Please have a look around, register if wanted to find out more (packages are free during this period). Feedback welcome on this thread.

Thanks Freitasm, placed an ad for a 'spy' camera I've had floating around to test the waters.

Publicly displaying the sellers email address? Hmmm. Not sure about that one.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Yes, this was a concern for me as well. I wasn't able to change the email address that I registered with - instead, I had to delete and re-create the account.

Apart from that, the site is looking good for the most part. There are a few spelling mistakes spread throughout the FAQ page. It also uses the American spelling for 'favourite'.

freitasm: I found the cost in the FAQ.

like in here -> https://nztechads.co.nz/faq/ ??

Do you need to be logged in to see the package costs ?

The "kind of packages" FAQ area seems to be the only one that would/should include a costing ?

Thank you for your feedback via Hotjar.
We adjusted a few things again on the site.

I’d like to share a few more information about NZTechAds, how it works, what are the reasons behind it.
NZTechAds is New Zealand's newest online marketplace that is focusing only on tech goods. Users can list their electronic items, either new or second hand, or browse and buy these types of products. NZTechAds.co.nz is designed to offer a pleasant user experience, including quickly submitting ads with NO success fees, free text search, and easily searchable categories.

Our business model brings a new perspective to New Zealand’s online trading habits. A few reasons in favour of NZTechAds’ prepaid package model:

1.       TradeMe has a success fee of 7.9% (Max $249) without promotions for a 7-day auction.
That means if you sell a $1000 laptop in 7 days you pay $79 to TradeMe.

On NZTechAds for a 7-day package, you pay $4.25 in advance without any further success fee.
If the laptop won’t sell during these 7 days, you can still renew your ad 17 times more to match up to the TradeMe’s $79 fee. It is very likely a product can be sold in less than 18 weeks.

2.       Paying for packages in advance means more devoted users, higher commitment to submit decent and detailed ads, lower the chances of scam and selling fake or faulty items.
Also, the seller and buyer most likely will meet up and do business personally and that encourages higher standards and better trading culture.

3.       NZTechAds is focusing only on tech and electronic items, so the audience is more concentrated than on TradeMe (or FB Marketplace). This fact increases the chance of successfully selling your tech goods.

4.       Prepaid packages and no success fees are even more beneficial for selling more expensive or premium products because, in the end, the seller can go home with more money in his pocket. This raises the quality of the user experiences as well. NZTechAds just doesn’t want to be another cheap AliExpress kind of site for tons of $1 phone covers.

We might keep one of the ad packages free for a while after the 100% free promotional period.

For a complete experience, I’d like to encourage everyone to create ads on the site because that way you can see how the process works as a user not just as a visitor. Of course, you have to have a tech item to sell to do that, but if you have you can do this now for free and can choose from 400+ tech-related categories.

Thank you :)

It's going to be tough its a very niche market you are catering for. I am all signed up but alas I have nothing to sell at this stage.

I wish you all the best though its fantastic to see somebody out there getting stuck into something and I am sure you all get all the support and advice be it good or bad in this community.

Jase.
