5 million listeners - good work!

I see that you don't do ads - so is donation your only revenue stream?  How you finding that?  We're considering being "not-for-profit", but not sure if we can afford to.

Ah, I see.   I was wondering.  I had spent some time putting all the links in there and then was a bit disappointed when they were all gone.

I can afford to finance the station on donations only.  I am not in it for the money, but for the love of the music.  I have a lucrative career and am lucky to be able to finance this project with my own funds.   I have actually been doing this since 1998.  I actually moved the whole station, here to the other side of the planet to keep it alive!

Actually, the most surprising thing I find is the New Zealand record companies and music scene. I regularly get demo sent to me from Universal Music Group, EMI and a number of indie labels in the US.   But getting music from NZ artists and record labels is like finding hen's teeth.  I hear how they are always going on about how NZ musicians can never get a break into the international music scene, but when a station such as mine with a large international follow gets all of their requests for demos ignored.   We get 500-600 listeners a day and have a very loyal following, we offer the ability for listeners to be able to purchase the songs that they are listening to through our website.   It is a shame that they are not more responsive to getting their music heard.

Good luck with your new station! Laughing
