Morning Cadman! There should be an option in your dashboard to change to the 28 Days for your auto top-up. Please check the attached image. If you can't find that, please message through your email address and number and we can see what's going on.

Not seeing it. Or do I have to already be on a 28-day combo for it to come up as an option? I'll be switching to one from my 30-day sometime today.

That's right, you won't see the 28 day auto top up option until you go onto the 28 day combo,
Cheers
OK, here's a different kind of feedback.
We've been on a data-only package, renewing every 6 months. My wife has an iphone and an ipad and we have fibre at home so she doesn't need calling on her ipad, just mobile data while out of the house. This package was perfect for her.
Now it doesn't exist. We can't renew it. But the worst thing is that you sent no email telling her the package was being retired. The ipad just lost data access one day and your helpdesk says sorry, there's nothing we can do.
Rubbing salt into it they also said "if you'd contacted us before the package was retired we'd have been able to renew it", which might have been tolerable IF YOU HAD BOTHERED TO KEEP US INFORMED.
I'm sorry, you've lost a customer.

@aquatarkus http://skinnydirect.co.nz gives you more data for the same price
For $30 you get 3gb
For $50 you get 6gb
for $120 you get non-stop data (fair use)
Plus all of these plans include unlimited calling and texting + free voicemail
It makes no sense for them to keep them going when these plans provide more for the same price, They should have done a better job at letting you know that they were ending though.
Correction: I do realise the data only combos had longer time periods between renewals.
If none of those are suitable though, 2degrees has a 12GB for $99 combo.

Hi Aquatarkus.
Sorry to hear that you weren't aware of the Data Only SIMs being removed. We tried to contact all of those customers still using the SIMs via email twice, once on the 4th of December and again on the 25th of January. Have a look in the spam folder of the email account that was attached to the account, just in case it ended up there.
Because they were data only SIMs, the option to contact the numbers attached to the SIMs themselves wasn't a possibility, so email was our only method of contact.

Hi Skinny Staff
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately it is too late to check my wife's spam folder because anything in there gets nuked after 30 days. I guess if you sent an email and she didn't see it then that's probably where it ended up. Way back in the day I had installed the Skinny mobile app on her tablet, hoping to use that to monitor her usage and put through renewals, but she couldn't use the app because you could only activate it on a device with phone services :-(
I understand how this happened and I apologise for yesterday's rant but, unfortunately, you have still lost our business because you no longer offer a service suitable to us.
Probably the most cost-effective option for us would be to use her phone as a hotspot, but the last time we tried that the phone battery went from 100% to 0 in a few hours.
cheers
Now the Core 28-day combo has 1GB rollover data. Of course, that exactly started one day after my combo renewed... grrrrr

Totally understand where you are coming from and we're sorry you two didn't see the comms from our end! I'll be sure to let you know if we have anything suitable come out at our end.

When looking on the mobile app it still states my "active combo" (the Core $16 one) comes with 750MB.
@SkinnyStaff or any other Skinny rep: will this automatically update to 1GB upon renewal in 7 days?

Seems to be a bit of a bug in the android app.
I have been on the 28 day plan for the last month - Just looked at the website and logged in - shows I am on the $16/28 day 1GB plan.
The android app still showed the 500mb 100 minute plan.
I fixed this by uninstalling the app and installing again - seems to have picked up the right plan name and description now.

Just received a text to say the $16 plan is now 1GB of rollover data :)
Great for myself and my son, not so necessary for my wife and daughter who have maxed out their rollover data and wouldn't know how to stream something to save their lives !
[e] looks like I'm a little late to this party.

have you actually changed to the new plans though? if you were on the old combo (30 day one) you have to change to the new one (28 days) to get the extra data

SkinnyStaff:
$9 Mini Combo - 100MB Data, 50 NZ Minutes, Unlimited NZ Texts.
$16 Core Combo - 750MB Rollover Data, 150 Rollover Minutes to NZ & Aussie numbers, Unlimited Texts to NZ & Aus, free Skinny to Skinny calling.
$26 Loaded Combo - 1.5GB Rollover Data, 300 Rollover Minutes to NZ & Aussie numbers, Unlimited Texts to NZ & Aus, free Skinny to Skinny calling.
$46 Ultra Combo - 3.5GB Rollover Data, Unlimited Calling to NZ & Aussie phones, Unlimited Texts to NZ & Aus, free voicemail.
Keen to hear everyone's feedback on these.
My Feedback:
Vodafone are now doing 28 day combos too. 2Deg is doing monthly. I get paid fortnightly and 28 day renewable is fine by me, cheaper to pay Skinny $16/4 weeks than 2Deg $19/Month.
$9 combo - seems like rubbish to me, not interested.
$26 combo - I might consider it if there was 2GB or more data but I don't really want to pay that much.
$46 combo - nice, but more than I want to spend.
$16 Core Combo - Hmmm, I'm considering changing to this. Now that it is 1GB rollover data (the data matters more to me than the minutes or texts) my interest is piqued.
I'm currently with Vodafone on a Pay & Go plan - the advantage has been only needing to pay $20 per year. But now the texts will cost 10x as much (Skinny are worse with the texts going from 1c ea to 20c each since I last looked at it) so I'll end up going through my $20 much faster. The main drawback to my cheap plan is that I don't get data so I can only use my smartphone fully when WiFi is available. I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have a good bit of data available and then yesterday I got the text from Vodafone telling me about the price of texts going from 1c to 10c each and minutes going from 20c to 30c each - I guess they don't really care if they lose a $20/year customer. So now I'm thinking about popping out and buying a Skinny SIM and moving my number over, going on the $16 Core Combo and getting access to way more minutes and texts than I need and having 1GB data added every renewal.
One advantage that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is that with the 28 day renewal there is more data on this plan. If it was 1GB with monthly renewal there would be a total of 12GB per year, but with this 28 day plan you get 13GB data per year. The 1GB gets added every 28 days which is a little bit more often. Sure, there is more money going out per year - but the competition is charging $19. On 2Deg you pay $19 x 12 = $228, on Skinny you pay $16 x 13 = $208. So you pay $20 less for 13GB data per year than 2Deg charge for 12GB data per year - more data for less money. Vodafone charges $19 x 13 = $247 per year for 13GB which is even worse value.
So overall there isn't a huge difference in what each mobile provider is offering but Skinny is ahead and so I'm considering becoming a customer and adding a couple of hundred dollars to their annual revenue. If the data didn't roll over or if it was still 750MB then I'd pass on this and go elsewhere, but the decision to make it rollover data and to increase to 1GB - they have made me stop and consider changing providers.
