Goosey: Would this do the trick?

http://www.godfreys.co.nz/vacuum-cleaners/types/robot

short answer: no

I know someone who bought a cheaper Vac... it's parts are starting to break already (3 months) and it struggles to find its dock at the end of the day

TechSol: I bought a Roomba 780 from Amazon... worked out to about 750NZD landed.
Best thing ever... I haven't vacuumed in 6 weeks - and yes, the floor is spotless.

Harvey Norman do sell them, but the 780 was over $1500!!!!

Now that is some good news! I WANTS!
How big of a floor area does it do? Can it find its way into rooms?

My one is doing around 100 sq meters, and yes it finds its way into rooms.

It took the better part of a week to figure things out, but it now consistently goes into all rooms, and docks itself without fail.

I saw the 1500 dollar ones the other day as well.   I got someone coming back from the states to get mine, then just got a universal DC adapter for the charging station instead of the 110v one it came with.

Warning: reality may differ from above post

If you are electronically minded and handy with a soldering iron, you can remove a varistor, and replace one capacitor ($3 part) to use the adapter it comes with.

Did you use YouShop to ship it to you?

Yeh I did...

Also I would only buy the 770... the extra features of the greater modules are un-necessary fluff.

Wow! The price is at least $1100 to ship to NZ now with all shipping charges and customs fees included!

Seems a lot more than I paid.

Bear in mind there is only the potential for GST to be paid this end. Vacuum cleaners are exempt from import duty fees.

I think mine worked out to about $81.23 shipping from youshop at the time. And of course the exchange rate was a little better.

Also, wait for specials on the Roomba's on Amazon... they seem to come up every few weeks

just saw an infomercial for an irobot roomba on tv.

didnt advertise the price, going on and on about a $19.90 risk free 30 day trial.

rang them up, the total is 10 easy payments which comes to a total of around $1200.

its for the 780 model but was a ex display model.

if you buy direct you can get that for about $1000-1100 by my calculations. so its not a bad price, but they're very pushing trying to get the sale (i was just after the price to compare it).

the phone number is 0800 209 009 if anyone is interested.
