Hi, does anybody know where I would be able to buy an iRoomba 780 or 790 series vacuum cleaners in New Zealand? If there is none here, I would probably buy from Amazon...

Harvey Norman used to stock them, tucked away in a corner in the Wellington Tory St store at least. Don't recall if they had 7 series, but definitely had the 5 series. There is/was also a local (or maybe Aussie?) agent for parts for them,

I got mine from Amazon a few years back without any issue. Back when I bought mine they only came with 120V power supplies but it's not hard to modify them to be autoswitching 120/240 units, although it's probably not strictly "legal" to do so.

Hmm, just noticed that there's an upgraded brush unit available for mine, may have to investigate.

are they worth getting? They look really cool!
Do they hover up properly or just dust?

They mainly get stuff that's on top of the carpet that you can see as the actual vacuum isn't all that powerful. You'll still need to do a "proper" vacuum, but now you can do it every 3rd week instead of every week. They do work very well though.

Wooden floors + Roomba would be an option for you then i think ;)

i think one of the main reasons i want to get one is to keep my cat entertained.
wooden floors are the best but unfortunately the new house is a mix between carpet and tiles.

we have the central vacuum but still requires manual labour, *sigh*

I bought a Roomba 780 from Amazon... worked out to about 750NZD landed.
Best thing ever... I haven't vacuumed in 6 weeks - and yes, the floor is spotless.

Harvey Norman do sell them, but the 780 was over $1500!!!!

Now that is some good news! I WANTS!
How big of a floor area does it do? Can it find its way into rooms?

Im also after a roomba 780, however reading the amazon comments makes me rethink it, and all the pictures they use show it working on wooden floors...

The roomba works pretty good on carpets or wooden floors (will stop at any edge..like stairs). Great for pet hair on wooden or tile floors.

The Scooba..
I have used one in the past. Worked pretty good!....the dirty water when it was finished (doing the wood floors, bathroom floors and tiled floors), water was pretty brown or black after doing its thing. I was pretty impressed at how well it worked.

Hoping to get it back (from my aunt) when I return to Canada and bring it back over with me to NZ...lol. Or perhaps I will just buy one while visiting (if the aunt refuses to part with it).

As it aged I remember a valve started to leak a little (if I recall). Wasn't a major leak...but was something I had to fiddle with to stop leaking.
