i have a 12v NC rim lock at my front door. look like this

connected to a loxone miniserver. works good. every now and then ill get a txt from my sister asking to open the door so she can stop in and use the loo

Sorry I didn't fully pay attention, my lock isn't as "smart" as that one, with no smart phone etc, but it works with either a pin code, proximity sensor etc.

when you think about how long weve been able to push a button and unlock a car door, push it again to lock it and set the alarm, having to pull out a bunch of metal sticks to open the doors on our houses makes no sense

SO true! i would have thought that the house stuff wouldve come first... i mean seriously how hard is it to build an alarm that can text you and interface with your garage door and front door and doesnt cost a fortune??? how come a $600 car alarm has more features than a $1000 home alarm?

SO true! i would have thought that the house stuff wouldve come first... i mean seriously how hard is it to build an alarm that can text you and interface with your garage door and front door and doesnt cost a fortune??? how come a $600 car alarm has more features than a $1000 home alarm?

Plenty of alarms have had this functionality under $1000 for years. We did research a few times in the past and found items though I can't recall specifics right now.

Heh I've never understood people being worried about people stealing 50" or bigger TV's. They are big and heavy and don't make for quick and dirty money which is what most people want.

We have a sign on our gate which says "my German shepherd can get to this gate in 2 seconds, can you?" we have found that it acts as a very effective deterrent.

You cant see my tv, or any tech through our windows... and it's only 47" ;p. The thing that would annoy me is the tablets, laptops, NAS, xbox etc.

The Goji is waaaay too flash to have on the door, and if a thief came around, they'd probably try to steal that. We live in a modest, quiet street.

And we have a largish dog.

We are an Australian company bringing the latest smart lock to the market. What makes the Genie Smart Lock unique? It is a full door handle and not a deadbolt. Being an Australian company, Australia and New Zealand are also two of our focus markets.

If any of you guys have any questions about the Genie Smart Lock or the smart lock market in general, let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Regarding the "tech" aspect on display. This is a feature that a lot of our customers have asked for and love. I understand the security concerns that have been raised, however I think a $200 - $300 door handle is the least of your worries in this regard. I think the flashy car and house can be more of a giveaway than a smart lock, however I understand the concerns.

Some customers might want their tech on display, but I'm not out to impress anyone. I just want to unlock my door with the minimum of fuss.
I wouldn't call a 21 year old BMW "flashy" and the house looks pretty much like all the other ones in the street. :D

There's also no way in the world I'm paying anyone for "e-keys". ever.

Sounds like a nice product, have you a site with pics? It is noted that it is wifi, will you have an open API so the lock can be integrated into control systems?
