Does it need to fit into all 3 outlets? The green light came on when I connected it but that's it. Nothing showing up in my computer.

The disk could be stuffed. You might need to give it to someone who knows what they're doing - a general technical person first, then potentially a specialist disk recovery company. If the data is really critical it can almost always be recovered, but the bill can be thousands.

Could be corrupt (as above), or even encrypted (did you ever play with any encryption software ?).

And 3 outlets ? For the drive connection should be 2 - one for data and one for power, thats all it should need.

So it turns out it was just my laptop that was not detecting it! Tried it on another laptop and the drive works fine now.
