I assume you meant to say

A 150w incandesent is probably over 2000 Lumins?

Which means there is nothing even close to that brightness in LED yet?

Actually no, an 150w incandescent scatters it's light in all directions. While an LED will concentrate the light more downwards due to the shape, so it depends . 150W incandesnet bulbs in a consumer sitution are quite rare, as they use a lot of power and get too hot for most light fittings. So they may never produce one that is that sort of power, as they also need to be a lot bigger in size. You may look at going to commercial types of LEDs. You can certainly buy cheap LED floodlights that are thousands of lumins. eg a 50 LED floodlight is around 4000 lumins, so I am guessing a 30W one would be around 2000 lumins. I have one of these myself, although I don't think the colour of light it produces is great, it is a bit yellowy

A good list of LEDs with high CRI, including how many lumens they produce can be found on Wikipedia - High CRI LED Lightening

jarledb: There is only mention of price and not of CRI (Colour rendering index). To me it would be important to get good light as well as to save money on electricity when changing to LED bulbs.

More info on CRI (Wiki) and Philips on CRI

Does any of the LED bulbs that have been discussed already state their CRI?

CRI is a bit of a funny one, in that it's based on a limited number of colour swatches and supposedly you can game the system and build high CRI lights that look proper awful to the human eye.

Wikipedia on CRI criticism
Dangol et al (2013) performed psychophysical experiments and concluded that people’s judgments of naturalness and overall preference could not be predicted with a single measure, but required the joint use of a fidelity-based measure (e.g., Qp) and a gamut-based measure (e.g., Qg or GAI.)

Definitely interested if people find the CRI ratings of the lights available in NZ; more data=better. But I'd still want to test one at home to see how it felt.

I think they have at last got into LEDs. I think it is the same company that cold called in on me. They couldn't believe I didn't want a free audit of my lighting by a professional. But nothing is really free, and my time isn't free.

So PBTech seemed to be the best I could locate with a per unit cost of around $11 and they threw in free shipping even! Nice one PBTech! Wanted to steer clear of the unbranded/less well known brands. Tried my local Briscoes - who had 1x5w, 1x8w and 1x10w bulb....awesome - real handy...asked if I could order them, they told me to talk to their online people via the website...which I did on Monday and am still waiting for someone to come back to me :\
Anyhow, all good - am interested to see how they go!

380 lumins is pretty weak though.

I have found the cheap LEDs tend to be crazy low lumins, and the colour temperature tends to be poor, and you get problems with colours, eg reds can appear blacker than they should.

$35 per bulb!

Bunnings "Click" 6W bulb for $5.95 still looks like the cheapest

5W Panasonic from PBtech for $9.53 looks pretty good for a branded product http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=BULPAN118040&name=Panasonic-5W-B22-Bayonet-Daylight-350-lm-LED-Bulb-

I would stick to the top brands like philips and panasonic. You pay a bit more initially, but they seem to  last. I haven't had a single one fail and mine have been installed for a couple of years. 5 W is a bit weak, although depends on the lighting needed. I did buy a few cheap house brand LEDs from warehouse when they were selling them off for around $5 each, and they have been in for about a year with no problems but they look to be an older looking bulb with ribbed heat sink on the side rather than the plastic now used.

I've had a mix of Phillips, no name brand off trademe and Bunnings/Click running for the better part of a year with no failures to date...

You have to be careful with the cool white ones, and that they are daylight, not just cool white. The cool white ones can make the space look very blue and cold, and a bit like the sort of lighting you get in commercial areas, like fish and chip shops come to mind. They seem to recommend cool white for task lighting more, and warm white for space lighting.

These LEDs look good http://www.wired.com/2015/04/philips-cheap-led-bulbs/ Two for $5 US, and they are 800 lumins, Philips brand, and have a new better shape to them.

http://light.co.nz/collections/led-bulb/products/sylvania-r80-series-led-e27-bulb-9w?variant=1002511497

The range of R80 LED's is very limited in NZ, but I've been quite happy with these.

They're CRI 80 and while labelled as 2700K, produce a marginally cooler colour than a traditional bulb - Perhaps more like 2800K. (Not nearly as cool as the 3000K Click R80's from Bunnings though)

Despite being rated as a 75w equivalent, they actually produce significantly more light than the 100w's they replaced due to the 120 degree beam angle.
