As regards temperature, here it is currently approximately 30C outside. I have the heat pump set to 19 and it is probably about that in here now.

Sometimes it makes a difference whether the unit is a floor level one or high level one (hot air rises and cold air falls - we have both types in the house and the same setting does not produce the same 'real feel' temperature in each room).

Thanks for your comments guys they really helped. I do have a happy update to share. The company that sold and installed the heatpump came round today and again just made a lot of excuses - saying that it's my fault and my expectations are unrealistic.

I then engaged a more reputable company (at my own expense as the distributor also wouldn't come to the party) and they were absolutely shocked at the quality of the install that had been done. He said he would write up a report for me that would detail all the things that were done wrong. Apparently they've been called to fix botched installs from this company in the past as well. They also fixed as much as they could and I'm happy to report the heat pump is now working much more inline with expectations. The heatpump is a Gree console (floor) unit and supposedly they're very good. I'm in Palmerston North.

I still have my Dispute hearing coming up and I think it's worth sticking with it to re-coop the extra costs. Or am I best to complain to the commerce commission?

Checked yesterday and in our almost 10 year old 4kw Toshiba the air coming out of of it was 9 degrees. Its set on 22 degrees and it was about that inside. Its cooling about 40sqm and does an ok job at it as the fan speed it up most of the time in the Auckland heat and humidity.

Hi guys just wanted to provide an update.

I took the installers of my heat pump to small claims court on the grounds of a botched installation, and won! I ended up paying someone else to fix the heatpump to a reasonable standard, and was awarded a bit more than that which is nice.

A lot of dodgy heat pump installers out there apparently. Pays to do your research and check for credentials.
