I think most heat pump remote controls are actually two way. This allows the lcd display of the remote to show the status of the heat pump rather than just say what state it (the remote) thinks it should be.

I don't think so. The Daikon wifi controller app will show me settings made with the remote, but not the reverse.

If the temp is set at 20, and I hit the temp up button on the remote to take it to 23 but block the IR signal, the LCD shows 23, but the unit is still set on 20. If I unblock it and again press the temp up button, then it sets to 24 - so the remote system is smart enough to send a temperature setting rather than just up/down signal, but it's not two-way.

Yep they just send an IR Packet which is an encoded string including time, date, temperature, heating/cooling, fan speed, vane etc. Not 2 way.

So the installer came back yesterday to install the Wifi module. Very happy with it. The weekly timer through the App gives much better control and is easier to use than trying to set the weekly timer via a remote. I haven't tried it from outside my home network yet but I'm sure it will be fine.

I have a Daikin Cora with the wifi module. I like the way ot works. While at home it works instantly over wifi, so basically never use the infrared remote as there always a smartphone or tablet nearby. The functions I like are that I can see the actual indoor and outdoor temperatures at home from anywhere. The schedule timer is very good and easy to use, I set an off time each day so that it switches off at 9 am when the wife and kids head off to school etc, the heat pump is never left on by accident. With the early starts when the Americas Cup was on we were setting it to turn on at 4.30am and off at 8am.

I've ordered the BRP069A42 pretty confident that it would work on my cora but had a feeling Daikin would have a trick up their sleeve.

Looks like Daikin is supported by ToniA's Arduino heatpump library on GitHub. ToniA/arduino-heatpumpir

If your wifi interface doesn't show up you can build your own.

So I purchased the BRP069A42 which comes with a male connection for the S21 connection on the Daikin units. The only thing is my Cora doesn't have an S21 connection so I had to get another module sorry I'd have to try and track down the part #. I then got the part which was the European version and the connection on to the board was 10 pin male but bigger than the one my Cora. I modified the connector and it works fine but was a bit of mucking around!!

I installed the BRP069A42 and additional board in my Cora unit bought through Peninsula Air in Australia. It works well but now I notice a loud relay clicking when ever I turn the unit on and it happens every hour or so when the unit is off. Has anyone else noticed this? I wonder if it is turning the outside unit on periodically to update the outdoor temp that shows in the app.

I was intending to get another Daikin for the bedroom but if it is also going to do this I may go with another brand.

Hi all,

I had arranged for a second Cora unit to be installed today with the Wifi unit. The installer just phoned to say that Daikin haven't sent the Wifi unit and they will need to come back later to install it separately. Based on the comments in this thread i'm wondering if it's true that Daikin forgot to send it, or if there is a bigger issue around availability still.

Has anyone had any luck getting the wifi unit, from Daikin, recently?
