samgdan:

SO In summary:

the current way that it is connected works but it is NOT  RCD protected.

The below is the correct way to have the powerpoint RCD protected.

Can someone confirm if that is correct?

This appears to be the correct wiring, but without a clear photo of the markings on the plastic I can't be 100% sure.

BUT

There was a time when the out terminals were wired as the power in that this caused damage to the electronics for the RCD. Regardless of what has happened to cause the incorrect wiring this RCD show now be checked by an electrician for correct wiring and be checked for correct function (using a RCD tester) to ensure that the RCD fault detection is still working.

The rules say simply pressing the test button and it tripping is all that is required which may be fine for a newly installed unit, but for your safety get it tested fully tested or replaced.

Test results should be :- Trip value should be between 15mA to 30mA above or below is a fail

Trip time 300mS or less

Thanks everyone for the help. As i have another bathroom with a pdl rcd i will be arranging today and electrician to have a look.
Its a small job so i might have to wait a couple of days for someone to be available. 😊

Update:

surprisingly the electrician came late this afternoon and corrected the connection as suggested by you guys.

Also he suggested to connect the heater towel rail to the N out and AP out, in that way the heater towel will be protected as well by the RCD.

As i wasn't sure about that i just said to leave things as they are.

Question:
Is the electrician suggestion good?

Why would you not want the towel rail protected?

Did the electrician check the wiring of the RCD in your other bathroom?

Depending on the location of the towel rail it may be required, there are specific zones in a bathroom that required RCD protection and the towel rail may be in that zone. even if it's not it would still be a good idea to have it on the RCD provided it wasn't too expensive.

Did the Electrician check the trip time and trip value of the RCD with his RCD tester?

the access to the cable for the heater towel rail is not the best, the electrician was out of the attic already when he suggested that, so he offered to come back next week (he came late and I did not wanted him to finish super late)

I dont know much the "zones" for electrical plugs in the bathroom but i think it should need to be protected as it is not far from the bath tube. I think i will ask to connect the heater towel rail to the RCD.

Regarding the "trip time and trip value" I did not ask for that, I will next time he comes around.

so just to double check, for the heater towel rail to be RCD protected should be connected as below.

Is that right?

Your sparky will know.

Do you know that until these shots of the rear view of a PDL rcd on Geekzone turned up on google I couldn't find anything showing the terminations other than the PDL instruction sheet drawings.
