Bung: Some sites suggest 2 x 230x115x25 bricks and that there may be bricks at the bottom of the firebox. On our Logaire I was able to rotate broken side bricks to the bottom and the virtually new condition ones from the bottom to the worst side. The bottom is normally covered in ash and many brands don't bother with bricks there.

Not sure if we have a brick at the bottom. Due to illness we have been running the fire 24/7 and the ash is fairly thick. I have been waiting for a good moment to let things cool down. It would be great if I could rotate a brick but I'm not sure of that yet. I have seen instruction manuals for this model but haven't gone through one yet. I need to know more before I start playing with it.

gzt: Googling around I see genuine brick prices for this model from $44 per brick to $288 for a set.

Do you have a link for any of those?

Chimney sweep here.  Can you please take 2 photos: 1 front-on of the fire with the door closed, then one showing the inside?  I'll be able to I.D it for you and let you know what needs to be done.

Depending on the brand will depend on the next course of action; full set replacement, or just one or two bricks.  Servicing logfires isn't too difficult, but most of them are put together in a puzzle-like fashion; e.g. you remove 1 part, to remove the 2nd part, but then put the 1st part back in to continue with the breakdown of the fire.

Thank you so much. I am fairly certain the model is a Firenzo Contessa. The fire brick on the right side has broken. The upper one also seems to have a crack, though it is still intact. Here are the photos:

You have a Metro Xtreme Rad LTD (rural model).  Metro uses just 1 fire brick for their side bricks throughout their whole range.  Available from M10 for like $50.  It just sits on the side being held in place by two lugs; one of the back panel, and one on the ground.

Cracked bricks are normal and are perfectly safe.  Our rule of thumb is; if its sitting in place and still has 50%+ of its mass its fine and doing its job.  If your right side is missing, replace it, but don't stress - it's job is to protect the steel over the 15 years of use, a few weeks/months won't do any harm.

On the top plate that sits in the 'mouth' of the logfire is your baffle.  Every fire has one and is made from various materials.  Your Metro baffle is comprised of steel and a hard cement fibre board called 'Promatech H' - it is NOT asbestos.  This is the white material bolted to the front; we call them 'baffle lips' and replace about 20 every week.  It will wear out; a crack is fine - leave it for now.  It's job is to take the brunt of the heat to prevent the steel from warping.  I'm not a fan of Metro baffles as they're a dated designed (everyone else has gone 25mm bricks or 6/8/10mm plate steel).

Ensure your baffle is sitting firmly against the rear panel of the firebox.  Otherwise, happy days.

The top one I wouldn't worry about it doesnt look too bad. I have an almost exact same model I replaced the top plate late last year you can either order the plate plus bricks or bricks only. Ordered in from mitre 10. I would replace the cracked side brick. They are relatively cheap around 30ish. Mitre 10 also sell them
