If the hinge physically disintegrated it may justify replacing others before they do the same as they'll be the same age/batch.  If that's the case and you can justify it go soft close.  I wouldn't say life changing but gone are the days of slamming cupboard doors.

Do soft close handle abuse** as well as non soft close ones?

** aka children

Sorry I can't vouch for the child factor but if I had to guess *if* they did fail by loosing their resistance presumably they'd revert to being normal hinges.  Don't quote me!

as others have said, pretty standard.

ive tried a few, and the best I've found are hafele soft close ones from bunnings.

They let you adjust it in 3 directions (in/out, up/down, tilt).   some only let you adjust one or two of those, and you really want all 3 adjustments.

Yes - even TEENAGE children.  We use Blum hardware and find it extremely durable.

Over-opening is harder on the door than slamming closed.  Even then it's more likely that the screws will pull than the hinge break.

This prompted me to check our corner cupboard. The top hinge was wobbly as the rivet repair needs redoing. I put a new hinge in but expect it to break at the screw within a year.

Bung:  expect it to break at the screw within a year.

Do you mean for the screw to pull out of the panel?

If so, fill the hole with epoxy, allow to cure and re-drill.

No I mean where the adjustment screw is located weakens the cast hinge. I could put a second screw in where I've been riveting the broken hinges if I could find my taps.
