Looking better now, thanks for the help. Tap the fan/dial icon to switch (script>toggle).

My only issue is my Kitchen zone. My "main zone" = my Kitchen zone with the tablet. I'm hoping if I bought another ITC I can just link it to that zone and it'll be a bit better.

You can switch it between ITC(tablet) and Damper %, but not via scripts. So it's just a pita :).

HA 2023.09 introduces a new climate entity. It's probably too large for our dashboards, but interesting for standalone units.

I recently moved from HA Core to HA Docker, because updating HA core was a pain in the ***. It was fairly easy to move to Docker, a new PostgreSQL instance, and a new Pi4.

I've got a few semi interesting features I've built using HA / AppDaemon:

  • Off timer. I sometimes want to run a heat pump for some amount of time then turn it off. I trigger it using HA, but the logic is done in AppDaemon.
  • Off now. When I turn a heat pump off I want it to go into "fan" mode for a couple of minutes to get any heat out of the system. One of the controls now has a play button, hit that and it calls a HA script that turns things to fan, waits a couple mins, then turns it off.
  • I also have the tap / change damper thing, it works well.

At some point I'll build an on timer as well. It'll need some kind of selection for mode (heat / cool) when it turns on, which will be a bit ugly or require a new dashboard, which is why I haven't done it yet.

When I get around to it I'll put it all up on Github, along with the configuration for the Raspberry Pi that runs HA / AppDaemon / PostgreSql, Nginx, CloudFlareD, SyncThing, and WatchTower all using Docker set up with Docker Compose. It took quite a while to get it all working, but if I have to move servers again it should make it a lot simpler.

Sorted out my off timers today. Just a script to set timer minutes, conditional card for time remaining and click to cancel (custom:timer-bar-card).

Wife uninstalled the useless airtouch app and this is working great. I just wish the Smartthings integration for the Samsung Purifier wasn't just on or off. Hopeless.

Not sure i'll do anything more than this. Just maybe some 'too hot - turn on ac' automations for the dogs.

That looks like a good solution, and quite simple 🙂 My current solution uses Python / AppDaemon scripting, I was trying to use a slider. I had buttons previously but wanted more flexibility.

I also have a screen that lets me disable automations for specific rooms. All my automations check if a room is enabled before starting resources in that room.
