A friend bought a mains cable from aliexpress.

The cable cooked at the rated load.

The wire used was copper plated steel or iron.... very high loss.

Be carefull!

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

larknz: What is the voltage rating of the lights, US uses 110v. However a lot of small power supplies are rated 110v - 240v. Check before you plug anything in.
Also be aware that lights purchased from Amazon won't be certified for use in NZ.

I have a previous set that say 100-277v on them. These do retail in New Zealand, just not this particular length. I'll be sure to check the specs when they arrive to make sure they haven't changed.
