Yates Surrender if you want a small package. 50% concentrate.

200ml for about $20. I use 20:1 on our motorhome roof annually and that has kept it pristine.

I made the mistake of purchasing a 1litre bottle for $35 ten years ago. The bottle is still all but full.

A drop or two of added detergent makes for much better coverage on non porous surfaces.

The McGregor's 200ml Moss Control Concentrate looks equivalent but cheaper again

I use "Never Saw It, Ignore It!"

Very, very cost effective.

There's not even an active ingredient.

The datasheet you linked in the other thread says it uses "Sodium hypochlorite"

I believe it is alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.

Has anyone purchased this chemical and deployed it successfully instead of the branded product? Where did you get it from, what dilution etc and how did it turn out?

I need to treat quite a large area for moss/mold/green stuff and W&F would cost about a grand by the time I finished!

you can buy it at cleaning suppliers wholesalers in 20l drums.

30 Seconds Spray and Walk Away: Benzalkonium Chloride

30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner: Sodium Hypochlorite

This has come up a few times in the past, Google something like "geekzone benzalkonium chloride". In brief, most anti-mould products are really expensive dilute bleach, a very small number are BZK, and the cheapest way to get it is 5L concentrate, in that form it's meant for outdoor use but you can dilute it to standard strength and get a lifetime's worth of use from one container.

Edited to add: Semi-replying to a few other posts, if it doesn't say otherwise it's bleach. And most of them are.

20L might be many years' supply!

I have bought Sodium Percarbonate on trade me. $23 for 3kg. Have used it successfully for deck it’s an Oxygen bleach like Vanish etc but without the extra fillers. Can’t remember the ratio I used but easy to find. I would mix it in a bucket by adding very hot water to help it dissolve, then used a sprayer.

Similar topic, are these products suitable to apply to a roof to prevent moss buildup? Roof is coloursteel I think.

Previous house had concrete tiles, Edwards & Hardie came and sprayed something on it to kill the moss, but I'm thinking of going the DIY route in our new place.

Ive used the Keep Kleen product, mentioned on page 1, on my coloursteel for years (grime and lichen mainly) and never had an issue.

A while ago, I bought some window cleaner that had the 2.5L container that clips on the hose for application purposes.

It was pretty useless, but I kept the applicator and filled it with regular supermarket bleach.

2L of bleach covers my driveway is what is probably a weakish solution.

I did it twice just before last winter and the bits I did stayed pretty clear.

I figure for $3-4 worth of bleach a couple of months apart, its a pretty cheap DIY solution.
