I quite like this. Don't like the lack of a bedside table or even an option to put a book or anything, charge your phone etc.

You can get clip on shelves for loft beds (and top bunks). Intended for alarm/radios and a book. Littlest Miss MDF and I made one for her loft bed. We also installed a downlight high on the wall above her head for reading and that kind of covered everything.

On the bed under window vs heatpump, I've already shown my hand here but I'd go for window (my bed is currently under a window). Double glazing is obviously really helpful but a thermal blind would also be good - the honeycomb ones have a pretty high insulting value I believe.

I had a 3mx3m room that I converted for a teenager. Similar room size to yours.

I went with the bunk bed/desk underneath option, using 6"x2" for most of it.

I had a lot less room than what I thought. One side is the bed, other size I had a wall full of shelving/clothes rack made of MDF.

It looks great on paper but you soon realise you are working in a tight space. I was not able to fit a staircase beside the bed.

I went for a staight vertical ladder on the side. Had to change from curtains to roller blind.

My son is now over 6ft, I'm glad we went adult size on the bed. This is the kind of job you want to do only once.

But the room is so much more useful now. My bunk bed is fairly simple (I'm not a builder), it has four legs and I added some horizontal lengths at desk height, then put two layers of MDF across to create a desk space the full length of the bed.

That gives them a huge space for desktop PC and still able to do homework or hobbies.

I am wondering if the solution to some of this, is to move the heat pump from the left to the right (I was trying to avoid that) then her bed could go against the left wall, bedside table, leaving that entire right wall for a chest of drawers, desk and a book shelf on the right as you enter the room.

I wonder which is worse, a heatpump above her head or a window beside her bed? With the bed under the window, her head and shoulders would largely not be under the window directly.

Hellish job which will leave a hole needing to be blocked inside and out plus paint and repairs. Heatpump fins can be aimed to go across the room so wouldn’t be a problem if she’s directly under it. The air going high across would bounce softly back in her direction.

Bed side on to the window is better than bed head directly under the window. If the cold hits the side there are covers, but if cold falls directly on to the uncovered head more likely to cause a chill and if asthmatic not a great spot to be in.

Spending some time in her room now, and with the size of her bed, I am now mostly leaning away from having the bed running North to South and considering W to E. This will ensure less of her head and shoulders are under the window, the heatpump can stay where it is as the fins as pointed out by @eva888 can be pointed away.

Her bed is a king single and the width of it means coming into the room there would be a narrow entry to the rest of the room, not really ideal.

We can put a bedside drawer beside her bed, a key thing she wants. She wants shelving rather than hanging stuff in the wardrobe and the rest can go under her bed and that will leave her with more space overall.   Maybe we put an oversized beanbag in the angled corner.

Beanbag is exactly what my grandkid had in the corner where there was little space. I gave her a couple of cushions and a fleecy rug and she loved curling up on it. It wasn’t a very big sized bean bag but still easy for anyone to sit on. The big ones can be overpowering in a small room.

We also got her a narrow tall kitset cupboard about a foot square and that tucked into a little gap behind the door. It mean the room door wouldn’t open fully against the wall as it bumped into the cupboard but it was more than what was needed to enter and gave her a tower of four extra shelves.

The room was a lot like yours.

and the rest can go under her bed

Ime storage under the bed is not a good idea. It's a trap for damp and dust and a pita to pull all the bits out and vacuum. Healthier without it every time.

Her bed base has built in drawers.

networkn: I need to do some research into beds under windows. My gut says that isn't ideal, but I am not entirely sure why.

I grew up sleeping in a bed under a full-length window and nothing happpened.

Nothing happpened.

True, but you were a hot guy that likely slept with covers mostly on the floor :)) Girls feel the cold more.

One of my favourite books of all time is Matt Ruff - Set this house in Order. It's *very* strange at the start, and I nearly put it down, but it's 100% worth it.

The issue will come in a few years when she wants a double queen sized bed.  Which seems to be a trend for teenage girls..

That won't fit and we will deal with it then. She has a king single and is dwarfed by it :)

Trend for both sexes for a long time now : )

I sometimes think this applies mainly to tall people and the average length of bed being short for them and talking advantage of diagonal space. But, I know of several cases that disprove that theory.
