Missed up a key word.

Scott3:

Thanks everybody for you help.

I've nixed the idea, didn't put an ethernet drop in & the wall is now closed in.

Put the cable in, then use a poe to 12v converter, and if needed drop it again down to 1.5v then solder that to the battery terminals of a wall clock.

It can serve a wall mounted tv in the future

That is super cool, but for $400 I will fix the time myself twice a year

If its for the kids room then you've already got the correct tools at hand to adjust the time and change the batteries.

They can also set the clock on your VCR/oven/whatever for you if required.

Silicon Chip sell the full kit for a GPS-synchronised Analog Clock Driver here for AUD$69 including shipping - see here for more details.

That one requires a fair bit of futzing around to get working.  If you're going to mod a clock you'd be better of making a Vetinari clock.

And then when your kids ask you about it tell them you can't notice anything unusual, and they must be imagining it.

Probably another reason I don't have kids...

GPS might battle to work inside.

GPS is fine, I have a GPS-synced clock in the living room under a metal roof and a GPS-disciplined stratum 1 NTP time source in the concrete basement and both work flawlessly.
