If it is just particle board (i.e., soft wood) you probably don't need to countersink; the screw should pull itself in.

 

 

Usually, I am pretty good at reading the (F) Manual when I purchase a new item.

 

But I didn't read the instructions for the screws, which says:

 

     

  1. Choose a screw length that will provide sufficient embedment into the timber being fastened to. [Note: 50mm was recommended at the time but will try 65mm soon.]
  2. Fit screw to driving tool. Push sharply to create 'centremark'.
  3. Squeeze trigger and maintain constant pressure until screw has drilled and fastened'.
