Another possibility, those look like Aliexpress test cards, it's possible the fault is in the cards and not the lamps.  If you're in Orkland I've got some QuantaDose test cards you're welcome to borrow as a backup test before you burn $100-200 on a lamp.

Thanks yes am in Auckland.  From watching youtube videos i was expecting some visible purple light to be emitted too, but there was just nothing.  (also the Alpine LED indicator was red, not green)

I won't be doing anything further till back from the holidays now, but yes would be keen on testing out other bulbs and test cards to confrim the diagnoisis.  Will send a DM, probably late Jan. Another possibily is that the UV controller box is faulty.

I too am following this discussion, UV bulb been out for ages, spa hasn't been too much trouble to balance, pH and Alkalinity seem to stay within range. Spa supplies seem to be having a 'sale' - still $180. I'll be interested to see the results of the Aliexpress lamps.

I shock dose the pool after every soak, seems the ozone generator is doing a good job at removing the chlorine, each test no visible trace of chlorine however the water is still clear and odour free.

From this discussion it seems like spa pools need a variant of the old boat-ownership aphorism that you don't want to own a boat, you want to know someone who owns a boat.
