I do wonder if they have replaced wrong bottle, or if both bottles could have only been half full. I can't tell which bottle they replaced either.

A full bottle is close to 80kg, an empty one is just over 30, its unlikely they took the wrong one,

Get a jug of hot water and pour it down one side of the bottle, then feel down the wet path with you hand, when you hit cold that's the gas level

Thanks, I will try that. Will an empty bottle have any gas in it all, and where is the line on a full bottle, or is it right at the top.

Have you tried just turning the selector across to the replaced bottle and back to the current in-use one again?

It will be sloshing round the bottom of a properly empty bottle, if you're down that far its empty...

In a full bottle its about 3/4 of the way up the side.. its not fully full

I haven't fiddled with it at all because I didn't really know how it worked.

Go turn the dial 180°, towards the recently replaced cylinder, report back what happens to the indicator colour.

i did that and it stays red in both directions.  I have checked both bottles and they both appear to be about 3/4 full and both seem about the same weight. I am not exactly sure which bottle they replaced as they are essentially identical with no date tags.  Both are open too. So maybe it is a faulty indicator.
