I’d stay away from any hot water heat pump with a full warranty less than 5 years. Look for the term ‘sealed system’ in the warranty terms as this refers to the refrigeration system which is the expensive part to fix.

Gree have this unit with full 7 year warranty. My workmate installed one last week.

https://www.greeac.co.nz/products/show/gree-whio-inverter-hot-water-heat-pump

I’ve got a Panasonic CO2 HWHP, split style, running for about 4 months. Has a 7 year warranty. So far I’m impressed and getting better savings than I expected over winter.

I have a CO2 system as well, installed around 4 years ago. The power saving was more than we expected as well.

Just got a notice from Mercury informing us of a rather large increase in the fixed line charge for our gas.

Has anyone been through the process of closing a gas account? Any fishhooks or disconnection charges or just a simple close the account, turn off the gas and stop billing me?

This sounds like a new topic. Start a new one.

The OP’s thread is getting off gas onto heat pump hot water. Disconnecting gas is part of the equation.

I should have added earlier, the plumber that quoted me the Carrier Green 300L said the unit only got released this month hence the lack of reviews. The 10 year warranty looks good however.

@johno1234

That’s not how I read it. I thought it was about hot water heat pumps. I just thought you’d have better luck with an answer in a new topic. And it would be an interesting topic.

Mine was quoted Carrier Blue, not green...and sent through a really low resolution badly scanned PDF flyer, which didn't help with confidence on it :(

Thanks for info on sealed system. I wasn't sure what that was.

Googling local outfits that do Gree, seems it's heat pumps they do not hot water heat pumps :(

They are sold through Real Cold , refrigeration suppliers. I don’t know how they go about selling them to plumbers as not the usual guys that walk in the door.

Correction to my earlier post, it is the Carrier Blue. I’ve just put in an order for one which will be installed on 11 Sept so happy to put a few pics up once done.

Thanks!

Ive told myself to decide by end of week. Missus getting sick of me over analyzing models..lol

At moment im leading towards Rhinnai. From my limited understanding of the technobabble specs, its slightly quieter and more efficient and cheaper to run than Carrier Blue, however a 10 yr warranty on Carrier is attractive. How this translates to anything tangible real world im not sure.. lol but still thinking it over which one.

Rheem I cant get past the 3yr warranty.

I think you are on the right path. Stay away from anything that doesn't have 5 year + warranty.

I don’t know where you are seeing the Carrier blue has a 10 year warranty the carrier brochure clearly states it’s only 5 years and the unit still use R134a which is old technology

Editing this response to say it the air con style heat pump that get a 10 year warranty
