It was installed by a firm of electricians who have been through the Daikin training. It's really up to them to find appropriate people to fix the problem I took suspect they might need someone more experienced.

my noise was a lot louder than yours but the tech from blizard found it really fast , the other option in welly is abode

There's plenty of decent firms around including a local one, but I think I need the firm who installed the unit to resolve the problem.

There are plenty of competent installers, I called them once about the ducted system and got a different recommendation. I think I need to stick with the installers who actually installed this unit and give them at least one more try before I go somewhere else or call Daikin. I wonder if the Daikin warranty can be fulfilled by any vendor or just the original vendor.

The first fault I had ( no gas put in heat pump when installed ) I rang daiken they referred me to Abode which wasn’t the original installer. The second fault the heat pump fan I went to the orginal installer , they go through daiken anyway under the warranty. Do basically it sounds like you can use anyone

Interesting, thanks. I'll call the original installer but I'll ask if they want me to call Daikin directly. I like my electrician! They're great at electrical work, I think just a little light on experience with HVAC problem solving.

Did you get this sorted? Found out this is a common fault for Daikins and just managed to get it looked at before warranty ran out and I've got a new fan unit coming.

I was told it's one of the hovering magnet type fans and they've had a lot of replacements. It gets off balance and that's what creates the ticking noise.

This should be a free repair considering how common it is.

My installer emailed me last week and said he was going to replace the motor and end bearings or something like that but they're moving pretty slowly.

Mine has just developed a quiet ticking, and as it's located just above my desk the annoyance factor can be high.  It seems to be the motor that drives the sideways swing, as the noise stops when I turn this function off.  I've yet to start a warranty claim.

This was finally resolved this month, around two years after the problem started. After I contacted the installer 25 times about the issue, around once a month, and pointed out that I'd contacted him 25 times, he found a resolution. Initially they were going to replace a couple of parts, but they ended up replacing the entire indoor unit. The new unit is smoother and doesn't make the ticking noise at all, at least so far.

I guess the lesson learned here is that using HVAC companies to install HVAC systems may be a good idea, as they're more used to coming back to diagnose and fix issues. The electrician is a great electrician, but I don't think their price included after sales service.

Glad you got it sorted finally. I really don’t know if I would use daiken again when I fully move off gas. I’m still not 100 satisfied with our unit. Lost count of the number of times the techs have come out. My gas heating just works never had to get a tech out except the odd service. Just can’t compare the quality of gas central heating over electric. Hopefully a small miracle of bio gas comes out in the next 5 years

My small office Daikin has had the indoor unit replaced. My 7kw kitchen Daikin had the compressor replaced after a few years as it was making quite a bit of noise - it's probably 14 years old now though and has been going strong for a decade since then, though it'll need replacement soon as the thing rattles as the case is partly broken where it fixes to the wall. The ducted unit outdoor unit was replaced and has had technicians out multiple times, including a main board replacement when it was 4 years old which I suspect will be an ongoing problem and a fight I have in a few years with Daikin about reliability, and the outdoor unit making odd noises occasionally. So yes Daikin reliability may not be perfect.

I don't know if the indoor unit was replaced under warranty or if the head electrician decided to replace it to reduce labor of coming backwards and forwards many times. The electrician who fitted it said Daikin required the installer to come out multiple times and try multiple things before they would start to replace things under warranty, which ends up being a pain in the ass for everyone.

sparkys are installers, i doubt they even know how to diagnose and fix issues. i've actually had one who tells his customers to call a pro to go fix it.
