12 hours after I told their operator that it was cheaper to just buy from amazon/irobot direct and have it shipped, someone called back and offered me a refurbished 780 for a lot cheaper.

So I grabbed it, and should have it about a week. They basically just said they wanted this product out there, and hoped I would tell others about it.

I'm sure its great, most people do rave about them. the 30 day money back thing is nice. nz warranty is a bonus too. nz power supply also nice. really doubt it will be able to vacuum my entire house on a single charge though. and be interesting to see how often I have to clean/empty it.... Mostly want it for the high traffic living areas though (which is basically one big area, so shouldnt have a problem there... hopefully...)

$830 I think or thereabouts. Refurbished would just be a returned one. Same as Apple does

Was going good for 6 months the stopped working. Currently waiting on a replacement from tv shop. Local warranty is useful. The brushes decided to stop spinning. Was excellent before that. Probably a fluke

The irobot distributors (www.irobot.co.nz) in NZ are ripping NZers off selling them around 2 times the price that you can actually get them in the USA.. I can order 2 780's from the USA new for the same price as you can get one of them in NZ ($1400)

I looked at the roomba, a samsung and the LG VR6270.
After all the reviews and videos, I bought the LG before xmas. Love it!

Looks like the LG and Samsung are very similar. What made you go for LG?

Ask for a deal if buying from the tv shop. I paid about $800 for mine in the end (saved about $75 more after 5 months by paying the remainder in one sum instead of the monthly payments).

You can buy them for about $800 nzd from America but you need to factor in shipping, gst, power conversion.

Roomba gets the best reviews because of the software in them. The robots are all very similar. Also it has great battery life (about 3 hours for me). The ones from godfreys advertise 30mins. Theyre nkt quick and go over the same area multiple times. So battery life ks very important. 30mins would only do about a 1/3 of my house

I brought a Roomba 880 in Dec-13 direct from iRobot.com and it is fantastic. I have thick shag carpet it lifts the pile! They have a 870 out now too, which is US$100 cheaper at US$599, just missing the remote control and 1 virtual wall.

No need for a converter to 230v on the 880, just swapped the power cord. They only ship to the US so you’ll need to use a forwarding service such as youshop.

Various reviews and videos showing the Samsung only picks up 80% and the LG will do 94%.

The LG actually picks up better than the dyson pet vac. We run "Alfie" (yeah, we named him) everyday and every second week we'll do a full clean... 20 minutes later, I'll run Alfie again and he'll still pick up quarter of a bin.

He's also a lot less random than the Samsung or Roomba. I like nice straight lines on my rugs. ;p

also if anyone is interested Mitre 10 sell a series 6 (660/670/680?) roomba for around $700 I think. Only ever passed by it (already have one so havent really bothered checking it out much).
