No I wouldn't buy one of those.
Wouldn't take one if it was free.

We prefer This sort of thing:

Gas BBQs to me are outdoor ovens, why bother? Cook inside....
If you want BBQ then really the woodsmoke is the whole point...

Honestly that doesn't get it "clean clean". All the "corners" and "edges" still end up "dirty".

I did vaguely consider soaking the whole thing in a tub of some form of toxic liquid.

Its charcoal. It's not suppose to ever be "clean clean"

The heat generated from the coal is enough to cremate any germs from the last bbq.

About once a year I scrub the edges down with a wire scrubbing brush.

Caustic Soda in boiling water will clean it up like new, you will need to find a stainless or plastic tray big enough to put it in though.

I bought a bag of some powder at Homebase (what's the UK equivalent to Mitre 10) and apparently you can put the grill in a plastic bag with this stuff and shake it around, leave it for a bit and the dirt will fall off. Haven't tried it yet but as we are preparing for winter I should do that soon. I will let you know (maybe take some pics)

Buy quality, don't buy a monster, 4 burners are more than enough, read up on heat output as that's the important bit, hood is worth getting , ensure you can actually get parts ....

@Joker97 : I think mitre10 are having a sale this weekend.

@klipspringer : charcoal all the way! Meat tastes so much better.

@networkn: that chick in the video is retarded. Get a mean flame going and then put the grill on the weber. Makes cleaning easier. No need to put the lid on unless you really feel the need to.

thanks guys after a while of hunting around I think this is the best for me

- when I was hunting it was around $369 on special
- the surface is smooth while a lot of others have the rough metal surface
- it says it has bazooka even-flame something ...

unfortunately it is no longer on special

this is now on special. unfortunately there is no display model at the local warehouse.
but I have doubts as the box is smaller, the weight is lower, the area is about the same as the 4 burner model above (maybe even slightly smaller), there is no ignition button
- does that mean this is inferior to the above one? I might wait till the above one goes back on special? thanks

No ignition button, as each burner has it's own "click to light" ignition.

I'd say it's probably a lighter gauge stainless, therefore it's slightly lighter.

Smaller, as the burners are closer together.

Is probably ore than adequate...not that dissimilar to my 4 burner.

woo hoo the porto is on special!

if you read the specs of the the porto and the serrana which one would you get?
- they're both the same size
- same cooking area
- serrana has smaller wheels and is lighter (more flimsy??)
- serrana has significantly smaller box (more flimsy??)
- serrana has many more burners (more gas use?)
- porto has bazooka flame ???
- same price!!!

what about even heat distribution?

thanks
