timmmay: You couldn't build on the same spot, you have to be a meter from the boundary these days.

I did consider just spinning all the bricks around, so the outside is now the inside... ;)

Actually, your funny post made me think.. Take the fence bricks or blocks down, sell to him cheap, get a block layer in to rebuild that wall

Cost wise, may not be too bad, and the leak is fixed

Nothing a few Acrows would not fix in the mean time,

Also you may find your council might allow you to replace "like for like" if the structure is old and needs repairs..

What council? Wellington's district plan doesn't have any side yard limits except that you have to have access to rear and adjacent buildings are 1 metre apart. If you build up against boundary the wall must be fire rated.

Interesting. I may read up on it, thought it was in the property act 2007.
