Krishant007: trying to see if we can get a refund from Kitchen Things for our Smeg (we havent picked it up yet from them, bought just about a month ago). Any Bosch in the 1.5k range that someone would recommend?

Our 12 year old Westinghouse dishwasher no longer dries dishes and the dispenser often doesn't work so time to look at a replacement. Now wondering how your 2014 recommendations stack up in 2016. Its already had a few trips away for repairs so figure its not worth another.

Looking at a replacement I'm after something that is Quíet, washes (without loads of rinsing) and dries plastics. Needs to be the Stainless Steel option for kitchen aesthetics. And reliable! Washing pots would be handy - though I find the dishwasher is full of other stuff by the end of the day that these get washed by hand anyway. ( we use dishwasher once at night)

I'm probably a bit anti F&P. Bought a clothes washer (to try to keep it NZ) but it doesnt wash well at all. Recently got a 2 drawer dishwasher at work and the top drawer only lasted a couple of weeks before it had to be repaired.

Me too. I used to buy F&P religiously, but their recent products have been a major disappointment (except fridge). We have a F&P dishwasher and a Bosch. the Bosch runs rings around the F&P in every respect.

My Bosch is still going strong. Drying plastics is a weak point - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I suspect some wash cycles do better than others.

Plastic doesn't get as hot as metal - hence it seldom dries well, no matter your dishwasher.

I have a bosch dishwasher and it is ok, but not the best dishwasher I have had. The grey coating on the racks inside are breaking down and the welding on some spikes welding have failed and come off. Also had a problem with the soap dispenser door not closing , although that looks to be a common problem. I am going for meile next time as they seem to have the best reviews these days.
