Rang them up and was told "it's designed to cook with the lid closed"... WTF?? Seriously... Who cooks sausages and steak with the lid closed?
I always cook steak with the lid closed. One of the secrets to a good steak is to get the BBQ as hot as possible, and closing the lid helps with this. I quickly open the lid halfway through cooking to flip the steaks and then it stays closed until they're done.
The secret to a good steak is is a quality cut and prep. Olive oil, salt, pepper, room temp. Super hot plate. Slide occasionally to a hotter part. Turn once.
Mine are done when the juice just appears on top. Can't see that with the lid closed and I'm not steaming it.
25 years since a chef (for ambassadors) showed me what to do and I've never had a complaint.
