I want to get a new BBQ for the summer as I will likely be hosting Christmas for the family.

I saw this one at The Warehouse: http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/catalog/product/Gascraft-Serrana-II-BBQ-Gas-6-Burner-With-Side-Burner?SKU=1704377

It comes off special today so I really need to make a decision on whether I get that or wait and spend a lot more on something else. I don't really know how to tell a good BBQ from a good one though.

Stop trolling moderator..... I bought a Stainless from Bunnings a couple of years ago. Despite promising stainless this and stainless that it has rusted to bits. I figure you don't really know what you are getting with the quality of the stainless but there is no other choice other than to jump in. Maybe try and get a decent cover or make sure it is in the shed when not being used.

Cheers, I will definitely be getting a cover for it as I don't have enough shed space to keep it under cover.

Strangely the BTU rating on those burners is lower!

I got one of those a year or so ago , Great BBQ for the price and does us real well. For the price you cannot go wrong.

Weber make the world's best BBQs, but they also come with a big price tag. Their pricing in NZ is also pretty steep.

There are a a variety of grades of stainless steel. At that price point I doubt very much this model will last too long outside, at least not without a heavy duty cover and/or being put away out of the weather.

You need to have a think about what you want to use it for. I purchased this huge 6 burner thing a couple of years ago, double skinned lid, rotisserie, the works. Sounded good at the time but I only use 10% of it's features, it's a pain to store and move around, and I regretted it ever since.

Bunnings/M10 seem to have some good deals most weekends. I would budget for a good quality cover.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Yah, things like the Rotisserie attachment for the OTG cost me more than the BBQ itself, though it's been worth every cent.
