I wouldn't touch fujitsu with a 50 foot pole. I have 2 mitsi's which I like and a panasonic that's good as well.

All of them have an issue where sometimes you need to press the power button more than once to turn them off or on, even though they beep each time.

Have a Panasonic 6.3kw for a year now , way better than the Mitsi we had before .

That is interesting about pana. I had heard that people fond then noisy, and had them replaced. Maybe the new models are better. They however don't do designer ones, unlike Mitsubishi, the silver ones look great IMO. Just a note, apparently according to one retailer, the GL series of the Mitsubishi which i mentioned previousy, is only sold by Harvey Norman, and noone else. That is probably why it isn't in the main catalogue, and has it's own seperate catalogue. Whereas the GE series is sold by most retails. Not sure why the GL series isn't sold by anyone else, but it does seem quite a lot more expensive, for similar performance.

I just had my GL delivered, brought from Heathcote Appliances I also had a quote from Harvey Norman but Noel Leeming said they were not agents for the GL series.

We had one. It was a nightmare from day one. Our contractor couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and Fujistu didn't want a bar of it, went on for about 4 years and then we ditched it.

Basically inconsistent cooling and heating.

Noisy as anything too.

My dealings with Fujistu are the issue, they are the worst for customer service! They don't stand behind their products at all. Anything they could do to weasel out of sending someone and then when someone came out at our insistence, they spent 5 minutes and then left saying nothing was wrong.

The unit has a rating on it for max DB, our testing showed it was about 1/3 worse than that, they said it wasn't a fixed amount and environmental impacts could change it.

That's a shame, I'd heard good things about them (not the customer service per se). Wonder if the new models are better...

I am sure they are, a few installers swear by them, however for me the customer service was so bad, that whilst there are any other choices, I don't feel compelled to try then. I'd take Mitsubish, then Panasonic, then Daiken (third because I have no experience) and also then probably Toshiba before I'd go back to Fujitsu. It was that bad.

I should say I had a Mitsubishi heavy industries 6.2 kw , It was never great from day one , It was poor for heating in frosty conditions and the inside fan was noisy and did not move much air , I had it checked out but no problems found , put up with it for 8 years until it died and replaced it with the Panasonic which is like night and day . I realize the mitsi heavy industries is not the same as mitsi electric which I have no experience with ,but the Panasonic performs very well in frosty conditions and is reasonably quiet .

Madcarue - what was the price you got for the Mitsubishi R32 GL80? Who did you get to install it (the store or a separate installer)? And assuming its now installed, are you happy with it so far?

Price was $3335 approx which was best at the time, freight was $70, and had local electrician to install, this morning was the first time it was used took about 1 hr to heat room but it is a large room, I have now set timer to come on at 5:50am and increased the temp a bit so when I get up at 6;30 ish it should be an improvement.

Wed morn is forecast to be 3 deg so that will be a good test, it is quite quiet.

Increasing the setpoint (temp) won’t help heat the room any quicker, it just means the heat pump will keep heating until it gets to the setpoint using more energy. Just start it earlier to allow time for it to beat the room.

Have given it a good try out over the last few days and it works a treat when set at 19-20 deg it heats the room adequately for this time of year.

I was using the timer to start a bit earlier as suggested by K so set at 5:30 for 6:30 start but I have been told by a couple of guys to leave it switched on all the time as it wont have to keep heating the room from cold, so I have knocked down to 16 when out or at night and that is much better but I still think it is a waste of power and more expensive.

it depends on how well insulated your house is if its better to leave it on or turn it off.

in most cases its better to turn if off.
