No we didn't because you said you kept it on a certain setting... you didn't say you'd tried auto.

In either mode - auto or constant fan speed, the fan switches OFF when at setpoint in heating. I’ve spoken to Daikin technical support and they have told me it can’t be changed as its energy saving feature required for MEPS. The fan slows down when it nears setpoint, then switches off. When the room temp drops the fan switches on again.

Nice... Remind me not to buy another Daikin then (mine doesn't do that) :D

Just wanted to check blakamin - are you sure the Panasonic doesn't do this? Reason I ask is if the fan is super quiet at the lowest speed you might not actually hear it switching on and off. Maybe Kickinbac could be a light sleeper that has his indoor unit close to his pillow so it's more disruptive.
I tried my in-laws 4.6kw Cora and it had a midnight/bedroom mode where I could only just hear the fan if I was really trying.

Just had 3 Panasonics installed at home. New ones, R32 etc. In quiet mode they are very quiet - there's one in the bedroom just above my head and it is almost silent. I have to turn off the nanog filter as it has a blue LED indicator when it on and I can't sleep with that shining at me (I'll put some tape over it at some point when I remember and it isn't 3am).

The bigger unit we have installed in the dining/kitchen is also quiet, but when you want things cooled down (or heated up) fast, the noisy mode really pumps the heat!

Useful info Blueshift thanks. Would you say you're a light sleeper/easily disturbed? Some people are more bothered by noises than others.

The multi-brand installer I just had around recommended the same two 5kw heatpumps I had narrowed it down to with no prompting from me - Panasonic Aero or Daiken Cora, so that was nice.
Not much between them, I'm going to go for the Cora only because the indoor unit location suits a less wide albeit it deeper unit. If it was going on any other wall would have gone for the less deep albeit wider Panasonic.

Sorry missed this, and while it's probably not relevant to you anymore, I'll answer anyway.

Totally positive, we lived with the panasonic as our only source of heating and cooling for 3 years (we bought it to replace an old Kelvinator).

Older daikin at our current house (9 months here) is the same. Only source of heating and cooling in the main living area. If it's on, the fan is on.

Sensibo turned it on automatically this morning when the room reached 26 (big glass windows facing the morning sun), AC is set at 24, it's currently 23.4 in the room, 24.2 outside, but the fan is still running.

I'll probably turn it off when I finish typing this. :D

To offer a different perspective, I've had experience with Daikin, Fijitsu, amd mitsi heatpump wifi controllers.

Daikin is by far the best for the following reasons.

- It handles local and out-of-home requests separately. Meaning, if you're at home (on local network) and
you operate the heatpump, the connection and speed of request is very very fast as you're
not having to login and authenticate on some server somewhere on the internet.

- You can (if you're technical) integrate with other services. I have a Daikin running
on Apple's Homekit which means I can control the heat pump with my voice or
automate it beyond just a schedule e.g Having it turn off when the last person leaves the house, or
add it to my night time routine - with a press of a button all lights turn off, doors lock, and the heatpump turns off (if it's on)
