Scott3: You are ment to use a spring inside conduit for bending, but as long as your radius isn't too tight you can make do without.

 

Having already installed around 50m of solid conduit bent in this manner, including some really complex multi-angle bends of which this is one of the simpler ones:

 

 

I really don't want to do that for this case, which is a stub connection (off a repeater) rather than the trunk that uses the solid conduit and which has to be flexibly run around all manner of obstacles, see the first post.

If it's underground, especially with 20mm, you can be far rougher with bends than above ground exposed to view.

Wedging it into the trench and piling dirt on top works for most bends that aren't particularly tight.
