Oh thanks. Yeah it isn't an issue we took that into account planning it. Vast majority of the time the doors between the inlet and outlet are open so it will be an open circuit so to speak. :)

just for others reading this, what happens if a door is accidently closed? relying on people leaving doors open is a dangerous idea. in fact i've heard of installers telling customers to do this, most likely because they are to cheap or lack the skills to do the return side.

@tweake Almost all of the doors in the house are cut higher than usual at the bottom because most of the house used to be carpeted and now it isn’t.
There should be enough air leakage into the lounge where the freestanding wood stove and intake are even with the doors to the lounge closed.

Aside from being inefficient is there much issue with the bedroom having a more normal door gap if it is accidentally closed? That door has had the gap reduced to more normal width by tiling the floor.

There are working smoke alarms in the intake and outlet rooms and at every interval required to pass the freestanding fire installation.

apart from the life threatening danger ........it depends on how air tight the room is. the lack of airflow will reduce the heating amount and help push a bit more heating into another room if you have a multi room system. keep in mind door gap depends on size of the door, some are really narrow, and the size of the bedroom. a big master bedroom requires far more airflow which requires a larger door gap. when i mean gap we can be talking 50mm depending on the situation.

tp add: the returns need to be sized correctly to enable the required airflow to do proper heating, which also keeps the air pressures in the rooms at the proper level which stops air being sucked back down the chimney.
