No diffuser, no bike attachment quite a bit heavier, and longer by the looks. I think the original one looks a bit better.

Yep, there are differences, and these may make one of them more or less appealing based on your needs. As I've just noted in my edited post above, the Beebest has a non-replaceable battery, which rules it out for me. I'm not buying something that needs to be thrown when the battery dies - the reason why I'm not going with the Kathmandu models I linked to earlier.
Fair enough, I hadn't considered that, same for me too I guess.
Trying to be less wasteful.
Here's the key specs of those two models:
Beebest: 1000 lumens, 150g, 120mm x 25mm, 2600 mAh battery, 1 hour runtime on high
NexTool: 1200 lumens, 164g, 126.5mm x 27.5mm, 4500 mAh battery, 4.5 hours runtime on high
Not much in it in terms of weight and size, but the claimed battery life is significantly different (though not sure how much this can be believed).
I think I'll buy one each of the smaller and larger NexTools - the former to keep in my pack and the latter as my main bedside torch.
jonathan18:
They also make a more powerful (claimed 2000 lumens!) torch at a similar price (sans power bank feature) which can be bought with two batteries, but it's not nearly as compact, eg https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004899881900.html
heard of this a couple of years ago, when it was priced a bit higher than this - didn't get one.
here's a decent review of it - NexTool XHP50.2.

Cheers - will give it a watch.
I have pressed 'buy' on one each of the NexTool 1200 and 2000 lumen models - came in at a bit over $100 for both (that includes two batteries for the 2000 lumen model), so not cheap but hopefully decent quality with some longevity. Will report back here once they arrive.

usability it has good reviews - amount of light, light distribution, run time, step down are all pretty good.
i now remember why i didn't click on the shopping cart... there was (is?) an issue with the built-in charger that terminates at a voltage level that's too high (overcharging). i probably should have also bought one, considering i charge batteries on a separate charger (having spare batteries are always good). whether they have sorted out the charging issue is something you can easily check when you receive yours, anyway.
Check out Maxtoch either on Aliexpress or locally. The hunting torches they do are epic (i used to own one) and the smaller ones should be as good as they claim.

Quite a bit more expensive than I was imagining :)
jonathan18: There's another Xiaomi brand called NexTool, and they seem to have a fairly similar model - claimed 1200 lumens, same ability to function as a power bank, but more of a textured surface. It's a similar price… [Edit - the other key advantage of this over the Beebest is the ability to replace the battery.]
