Small print was interesting.

Carrier 10 year warranty is actually

5 years parts and labour

And then 5 years parts only after that.

Just thought I'd post what we got in the end. Carrier Blue DHW-300N7.

Some pics if anyone is interested :)

(The air duct out the window is my 3D printer exhaust...not a "hydroponics" set up in case anyone is wondering haha)

Jeepers. I'm starting to see why the installation charge is so high. That looks complex.

I don't think my wife would allow this without some kind of visual screening which might not be possible without affecting airflow.

Thanks for the photos.

I'm concerned the heat pump grille is too close to the wall and obstructing the airflow. Do you have the installation manual showing the minimum clearances?

The hot water pipe from the tempering valve into the house should be insulated but the plumber has installed it hard to the wall so this is going to be a PITA to do properly without moving the pipe.

I would also insulated the pipe fittings connected to the cylinder to reduce the heat loss. Touch them and see how hot they are.

Yeah I just realised it's too close. Really noisy in the adjoining room,  and then I found it's hard up against house, so vibrations.  Further digging into the manual it says it needs to be 150mm away from  the wall, but the way they orientated it, that side needs to be 600mm from wall, so if they correct the orientation, then we will have pipes sticking out over thr doorway behind. If they leave it in that orientation, we going to lose a ton of space.

They assured me it'll fit there when they quoted (we co sidered moving it to opposite wall from house).

Going to be an interesting phone call to them tomorrow.

(Unit still heating so can't check pipe hotness)

I would have expecting lagging on all pipes too, not just the hot.

This is one of my installs. All pipework is insulated apart from the TPR and drain line

The units has brackets to space it off the wall. I have these fabricated the I line them with foam to absorb vibrations. I have never had a complaint about noise from one of my installs

It's heated now (and gone quiet).  Pipes are hot to touch, including  the outlet fitting.

A local electrical firm that, subcontracted the plumbing component.

After 1 night...other side of house we could hear the pump running when in bed. Not impressed , esp when they said it's not too loud. In the room behind the pump it sounds like a loud motor running. It's not insignificant.

Is it because of the initial install and the initial water heating? How about the succeeding nights?

Only been one night we have had it. Once it heated it went quiet, until a shower around 8.30p., then it kicked off again and still going 11pm.

But after morning showers (2), the pump started again temp showed 47deg at 7.47am and has been going since then.  currently 10.20am and showing 57 deg now.

(And same noise level)
