How much did the freight forwarding service cost you?

Nothing, I used a frequent flyer.

reven: also if anyone is interested Mitre 10 sell a series 6 (660/670/680?) roomba for around $700 I think.  Only ever passed by it (already have one so havent really bothered checking it out much).

Which branch did you find it?
I couldn't find it in their website.
Didn't also notice it on my nearest mitre10 mega branch.

reven: 12 hours after I told their operator that it was cheaper to just buy from amazon/irobot direct and have it shipped, someone called back and offered me a refurbished 780 for a lot cheaper.

So I grabbed it, and should have it about a week. They basically just said they wanted this product out there, and hoped I would tell others about it.

I'm sure its great, most people do rave about them. the 30 day money back thing is nice. nz warranty is a bonus too. nz power supply also nice. really doubt it will be able to vacuum my entire house on a single charge though. and be interesting to see how often I have to clean/empty it.... Mostly want it for the high traffic living areas though (which is basically one big area, so shouldnt have a problem there... hopefully...)

If you can find someone who does work there, and convince them to buy something on your behalf. All staff get 50% off the retail cost of all the products.

You can also get discounts of returned products that people got on trial but didn't want. Ask nicely and they're more likely to want to help you out.

Just FYI incase people still looking for one :)

reven:   the roomba is very random, does a good job, but its slow and very random.

I have a Roomba, but I don't see how this is a downside:  I want the thing to keep cleaning till it either runs low on battery, or the bin is full.  It runs on a schedule (and wouldn't purchase a robovac that didn't.. it's an essential feature as far as I'm concerned) when I'm not there so time to finish isn't an issue for me.

I see the also random pattern as a plus... rather than doing a single pass and assuming it gets everything the easier to cross places get several passes.  However I have wooden floors+rugs so I don't get any patterns left in the carpet.

Warning: reality may differ from above post

i have found the randomness to miss areas of the house before, I have a large open plan area and often it misses a complete area all together.  i run it every day so its not a big deal, it will get there usually the next day.  but ive had to turn it back on at times or move it to get the area it missed.

i do like the fact it redoes areas, but i do wish it was smarter and did make a map.
