Demeter: Thanks, yet another gadget I now cannot live without and must have immediately.
How much did the freight forwarding service cost you?
reven: also if anyone is interested Mitre 10 sell a series 6 (660/670/680?) roomba for around $700 I think. Only ever passed by it (already have one so havent really bothered checking it out much).
Demeter:reven: just discovered a neato has much better room scanning than the rest, that could make it the best. the roomba is very random, does a good job, but its slow and very random.

reven: 12 hours after I told their operator that it was cheaper to just buy from amazon/irobot direct and have it shipped, someone called back and offered me a refurbished 780 for a lot cheaper.
So I grabbed it, and should have it about a week. They basically just said they wanted this product out there, and hoped I would tell others about it.
I'm sure its great, most people do rave about them. the 30 day money back thing is nice. nz warranty is a bonus too. nz power supply also nice. really doubt it will be able to vacuum my entire house on a single charge though. and be interesting to see how often I have to clean/empty it.... Mostly want it for the high traffic living areas though (which is basically one big area, so shouldnt have a problem there... hopefully...)

I have a Roomba, but I don't see how this is a downside: I want the thing to keep cleaning till it either runs low on battery, or the bin is full. It runs on a schedule (and wouldn't purchase a robovac that didn't.. it's an essential feature as far as I'm concerned) when I'm not there so time to finish isn't an issue for me.
I see the also random pattern as a plus... rather than doing a single pass and assuming it gets everything the easier to cross places get several passes. However I have wooden floors+rugs so I don't get any patterns left in the carpet.
