Just like a hollow core door then. Freedom Furniture tables are exactly the same.
Solid timber costs more.

This is firming up to be "All Systems are a Go" for Ikea NZ after years of speculation. Latest press release:

IKEA's NZ launch this Friday: CEO to make debut visit

Still the big mystery of location/s though:

Chris Wilkinson, of First Retail Group, says in time, Ikea could open two stores in the North Island and one in the South.

Westgate is, in his view, a good pick but he would also not rule out the fringes of Auckland, particularly the growing housing areas north of Albany or the new Drury township in south Auckland.

Drury is easily reached from Hamilton and Tauranga. "We've seen overseas that people will travel much further than they would normally for the Ikea experience."

Hopefully the mystery will be over on Friday.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if we get this blind:

I hope so. I'd love me some Alexa controlled blinds in my lounge.

AU has hardly any of the lighting stuff available. I sent a friend in to try to get some of their e27 rgb lamps to see if they were anygood and nothing but some ugly cabinet lamps were available. Only e27s they had were ugly 2700k non smart stuff. Not holding breath for smart home things here based on AU availability.

Oz has a couple of Tradfri devices. I heard they might have the full range this year. I bought all of mine in the UK.

Yeah, but no timeframe. Could be years away.

Pop-up store to open somewhere in Auckland, and an Online option coming sooner? Shipping ex Australia?

Wake me when they actually  a) announce an actual site, or b) break ground.....

"While Kiwis will have to wait years for that store to be built, Ikea said it will in the meantime bring a pop-up shop to give "consumers a taste of what's to come".

The executives wouldn't confirm where the megastore would be located, but said there were "many sites of interest" up for consideration."

Yeah I'd be happy with an online option, in the meanwhile ... it should be a bigger range than a pop up store.

It will probably be quicker to build and set up a warehouse and run online shop in conjunction with the pop up store. Getting the resource consent for the megastore will take a while.
