I shared this in another post but I'll add it here as its a DIY project that I'm just starting.
This is my 1976 Vespa 50s which I've just picked up. Well, it's registered in NZ as a 1976 Vespa 50s but the frame is a 1965 Vespa 50n and the motor is a 1980 Vespa 50s which has had a 102cc conversion. Confusing I know but not that uncommon with vintage motorcycles/scooters. As best as I can tell this frame was first registered in NZ in 2013 after being imported from the UK.
The plan?
Conversion to electric power! 3Kw hub motor with a custom swing arm. 64V/28Ah battery which should hit 70Km/h and a range of 60-70Km. Being essentially a large custom e-bike motor it will charge in 6-8 hours from a standard mains charger. Should be a fun project.

Gate & post project almost finished just need to paint, hang and find some solar gate openers, pretty happy with how it has come together so far.

During June and July I worked, weather-permitting, building a DIY 6m x 6m deck and surrounding fences for our adult son and his partner, with their assistance on weekends and as their WFH allowed.
The base is the concrete-slab roof of their street-level double garage - the slab adjoins their first-storey main living area. Originally it was a patio with low brick-wall planters, concrete pavers and ratty trellises with creepers. Built in the 1980’s, it was leaking into the garage below.
With great effort they cleared all of that away and had an industrial-grade torched-on membrane applied, with correct 'falls' incorporated.
After great difficulty sourcing some of the materials, we started the fences and deck. Pretty much standard construction and using self-leveling ‘Nurajack’ piles to support the sub-frame - these allow the deck to ‘float’ and do not penetrate the membrane so as to preserve the watertightness.
The decking material is finger-jointed 140 x 19 mm Kwila. Son has installed flush LED uplights in the Kwila around the inside perimeter - looks great at night. Now they're busy finding free-standing planter boxes, some sort of shade arrangement and new larger furniture to fill the sizeable area. First photo gives an idea of what it was like before we started.

Miss 15 discovered that her school has a Small Bore rifle shooting team at the start of the year. After nearly a year of shooting, she's come to the conclusion that once a week with school is not enough to get better, but that she wants to improve.
After a bit of thought and measuring, we decided it could just (with legs out the roller door) be done in the workshop at home, so cue building a bullet trap! Seems to work perfectly, and only cost a few beers for the scrap metal it's made from. The projectile gets deflected down into the pipe, where it spins and loses it's remaining energy. Baffles prevent anything from escaping, but you can tip it sideways to empty the projectiles out when finished.
(The holes in the target are from me test-firing free-hand - the kid is way better that that!)
