Do you specifically mean brushless on a a 18v x 2 mower, or more generally?

18v - I'm pretty comitted to the ecosystem.

Starting to wish I'd cheaped out and gone ozito though. They seem to have all the tools at half the price

I’m the same, only got 6-7 tools so far though so may not be to expensive to move over to ozito, those prices are pretty bloody good.
I have found by purchasing the generic ryobi batteries off trademe though make sure it a wee bit cheaper, especially the 5 ah ones

Are the batteries any good? I keep seeing them but haven't taken the plunge yet

Ref post from simon14 of 7 Nov above re Trade Tested's Greenwork's 40V mower: this seems to be well reviewed internationally and @ $499 seems to be well priced. Better value than Ozito even?? Thoughts?

I bought an 18" Victa 82 v 18" with 1 2 kw/h battery in the kit and charger for $599 about a month ago -- they had a whole wall of them! Very happy with it, 2 kw does all our lawns, some on mulch and some on catch, with 1/4 left over at the end. 30 m in charge. Quite light too.

@CokemonZ the battery works really well, there is a noticeable power increase when I use it in my blower vs the official 2A battery

Short answer is it works well. The grass out the front was about 2 weeks overdue for a cut and the mower didn't have any trouble. There's quite a steep slope on one piece and it was so much easier than with the petrol mower, it used to feel like I'd done a full workout at the gym after mowing it with the petrol mower. When the mower detected some pieces that were more difficult it automatically increased its speed, and I managed to do the front and back yard on the one battery (although my section's only 500m2). I haven't tried the mulcher attachment yet, I might do that next time.

I purchased an outdoor storage box from Trade Tested on Thursday and the 10% discount code was still working, so you might have some luck with "SUNSOUT".

I ended up buying a Masport M-Tech Energy Flex 42V (4Ah) mower with Smartchute. I've used it twice, 15 minutes each. Grass wasn't long (1 week maximum), and it went very well, wasn't phased by longer grass. I was impressed by how quiet it was, and the advantage of being able to roll it on its side afterwards to clean underneath. Quite light too being steel chassis.

Then of course 3 days later a new model came out, pretty basic 16.5", cloth catcher, rear discharge. I bought one of them too. I don't use catchers so the selling points were same motor but smaller cut so would probably do better in longer grass... Rear discharge has less resistance and far easier to clean... Even lighter again... Cheaper purchase price ($550 vs $700).

Are any of the battery mower models made in New Zealand? The build quality of many imported models feels more like a toy. The Lawnmaster 206507 is listed twice on their website, one has the New Zealand Made badge, and one without, so I wondered if they're now outsourcing that too.

My Victa Lawnkeeper is about 10 years old and is plastic, with only a couple of cracks from where I picked it up and used it as a hedge trimmer. It's due for replacement with something a bit more powerful and modern (to change the height you flip it over and move the wheels), but I wouldn't rule out plastic unless you plan to compete in some kind of lawn mower battle or something ;)

My EGO electric mower is 2.5 years old and has seen a lot of use. Plastic hasn't been a problem. It's tough plastic.

Same here, we must have bought our EGO’s around the same time. Plastic base is holding up just fine as is the battery.

One tip, keep the blades sharp. The battery mowers don’t have the torque of a fuel motor and they rely on blade speed and sharpness. I know it’s important to keep all mower blades sharp but especially so for battery. I just ran a file over mine and sections of thick grass where it would struggle are now a breeze again.

Trade Tested have the Greenworks 40V at $499 with a free trimmer at the moment which looks like a really good deal compared to anything else out there.

I have a 1000 sqm section so was looking to purchase the Victa 82V from Bunnings which is $499 - but the Trade Tested deal is super temping... just not sure it'll have enough oomph.

My Ryobi is still going strong after nearly 3 years, no apparent issues with battery degradation nor any damage to the body, may look like a toy but sure doesnt act like one.

I'm still likely to go buy the mains powered model, even if it's not quite as powerful or flexible as the battery models. I'm used to a cord so it doesn't bother me. Old one is still working, just, so haven't gotten around to it yet.

mine was he same until it died just before Xmas, seems like just a bad connection somewhere but I replaced it with an AEG and so far it seems better.
