Could anyone provide a ballpark estimate as to how many days it would take 2 qualified (LBP) builders to install 5x new windows and 1 set of french doors as direct replacements for the existing windows/doors up to current building code standards and ensuring weathertightness?

i.e.
  • Remove existing windows/doors
  • Ensure holes are properly dressed and prepped
  • Install the new windows
  • Apply finishing inside and out (architraves, facings, etc)

Assume:
  • Direct-fixed timber weatherboard cladding
  • Existing windows are aluminium
  • Lintels, base plates and framing are all fine and meet the building code
  • They don't do any painting or anything

Am I way off in assuming it would take a team of 2 capable guys around 2-4 days to do this work?

2 qualified builders should have those replaced in 1-2 days IMHO. It is not difficult work if your wall depth is the same as before. If they are careful they may be even be able to re-use the scribers and architraves.

I used to do window installations.

2 days would be tops for removing timber or aluminum and putting in new aluminum...Ive only installed aluminum windows, new timber ones could vary slightly.

Everything going smoothly 1 day would be possible
