Hi, not sure why i'm looking upgrading everything, but I want to install an insinkerator brand waste disposal. It needs a bigger hole to insert the attachment thingy ... is it possible to cut a bigger hole in my old 90s sink?

What tool would I use?

Thanks

You need a tool like a chassis punch that cuts the larger hole and forms the recess.

or take the sink to a plumber.

PS pace yourself.

For the time, possible fitting or leak issues, any cost in buying or hiring the right cutter tool, I would suggest to buy a sink with the correct hole. Or put the time into cutting out the kitchen bench for a nice double sink. Thats a better upgrade IMO

Put all food waste in a corner of the garden. Let it break down. Feed your vegetable garden :)

You buy a sink with the right sized hole. Would not recommend cutting a hole in an exsiting stainless steel sink

It is possible to do with the sink in place but "When being used in a sink with a Formica top, care must be taken that the cutter is not twisted, this could pop the sink out of the bench."

I had my second sink basin plug hole enlarged while I refinished the benchtop. I took it to the local sheet metal factory. Later found that they didn't have the tool and borrowed one from a plumber to do my job. The only problem with an existing sink is that it is likely to be a heavier gauge stainless which is harder to cut. Modern sinks are such light steel that I've found that a leak in one was where the point of a dropped knife had poked a hole in the basin.

Waste disposal units are useless. You may as well just chuck it in the bin. It all ends up in landfill anyway.

Agree with the above, compost/worm what you can and just throw the rest out.

Haha not if you are lazy to stop crap going down the sink hole. But yes we will be a bit more hard-working. Thanks.
