Hi there, I'm in need of an In systems Programmer with the right gear to re-flash two FCU's (firing control unit for an airsoft gun):




From what I have found out in the Internet this is done by the method in the screenshot below, 




And this is what connector on the FCU's look like:



Also the Hex code can be found here: http://polarstarairsoft.com/support/firmware


Can anyone here help me out with this? as I don't have the experience or the equipment! I'm willing to pay someone if they are able to help me out with this, say $30?. I'm based in Beachhaven, on the Shore.

The 6 Pin ISP connector they are referring to will need to be fitted to the board, looks like the 6 pins marked "JP2"

You're right but I think what the OP is after is someone who owns an ISP and willing to solder it up and flash the eeprom

In addition to the hex file, you probably also need to know what the fuse bits need to be set to. Usually there are 5-10 fuse bits that configures the micro for clock type, brownout detection, oscillator start-up time, etc.

If you don't get sorted, I might be able to help in 1-2 weeks. We have a number of ISP programmers at work (and stock connectors) but you need to know the fuse bits. Sometimes they can be read out, sometimes they are protected until you perform an erase... and you loose them.

Ok, I emailed the company that make the FCU about fuse bits, and they told me that the AVR model is an ATmega169A. Does this help? they also said that the fuse bits don't need to be modified - but if I need the exact settings they are set to then they can get them for me.

Does knowing the AVR help with those fuse bits?

Okay, looks like the fuse bits are not protected so yes it can be read out by the programmer even if the FLASH is protected. We have a few programmers at work, can help you out next week. Where are you?
