I read on here a few months back about a particularly good vendor of thermally broken double glazed doors. I called them at the time but they never bothered to call me back - I forget their name, but they had a branch in Upper Hutt. Now I'm looking to replace a set of french doors and a standard door, thermally broken and double glazed. Can anyone recommend vendors, including the one that was previously mentioned?
I got three vendors around and asked for quotes a couple of years back. Three turned up and measured, one gave me a quote I thought was unreasonable, one I had to hound to get the quote so I won't bother with them, one never sent a quote at all. One of them (I forget which) emailed me a scanned quote, but didn't bother to reply when I asked them questions about the quote. Overall the service in the aluminum door industry seems pretty poor.
I like the idea of PVC (I have a PVC double glazed window), but the color options of white or wood grained don't work for me - I want to match color steel.
I know of:
- Eurovision (they tell me they closed before Christmas due to lack of work)
- Homerit (PVC, limited colors)
- Thermalframe (PVC, white/wood grain only)
- Aluminium Joinery Wellington (decent enough service, but difficult to see their work outside of standard business hours so I didn't pursue)
- Westview Aluminium (didn't bother to reply to my questions about the quote)
- EcoWindows (recommended by Eurovision)
